This is one reason setups like GoodRX are able to offer #prescriptions at a lower cost: because the price you pay is supplemented by the information that will be sold about the transaction.

I believe this has a bit more information in it than the earlier
report.  The fine is still "proposed", but:

-- BetterHelp agrees with the settlement
-- BetterHelp is banned under the settlement from continuing to share
customer health data for marketing purposes
-- BetterHelp continued to do this even after being purchased by Teladoc
-- BetterHelp denies there is anything wrong with what they did and
assert that **its standard industry practice**.

Please be careful sharing health information. BetterHelp was caught sending people's mental health information to Facebook/Meta and GoodRx was caught doing the same thing. The US govt is finally taking action on this, but we're a long way from stopping corporations from selling our private information to corporations eager to make money off us.
