I have never figured why the Borg ship was hanging around after the battle of Wolf 359. Repairing their minimal damage? Recharging their engines? Did Picard somehow influence Locutus to wait for Enterprise?

Coming up on H&I, we have the rescue attempt for Picard. Lots of people believe that the “antimatter spread” is a weapon. It crops up it in various Trek books, etc.

My conclusion is that it is NOT a weapon. It is like fireworks, meant to distract and confuse Locutus, so he doesn’t notice the rescue shuttle.
