Three years ago today, I spent the #solstice writing with 31 other women into a Google doc divided into dreams, morning, noontime, afternoon, evening, night. We meant to write a #poem, but ended up writing a book. The shortest day turned out to be as deep as our lives. We dedicated it to #BernadetteMayer, who inspired us. (Then called us penguins, lol.) ✨❄️✨

There’s just nobody like Bernadette Mayer. How lucky we’ve all been. Spending the day (between cooking tasks) reading her.
Here’s an excerpt from Midwinter Day. (Photo by Lawrence Schwartzwald for NY Review of Books.)

I just heard of the death of the great US poet today, #BernadetteMayer.
She was the best. Just everything. I love her work. I cherish it. Here's a snip of a recent poem.
If you don't know her poems, look her up. They're absolute.

So my publisher, Black Lawrence Press, is having a sale. Some books are as low as $5!
Two of mine are included: (CREATURE SOUNDS FADE) which incorporates #ClosedCaptions into many of the #poems (I’m #HoH, it comes up), and Midwinter Constellation, a poem cowritten by 32 women/nonbinary #poets as a kind of homage to #BernadetteMayer.
Lots more #SmallPress goodness to discover, including #poetry #fiction #ShortStories #novels
