The Moon Takes the Bow: The Longest Fight in the Sky, Scored on Love, Fear, Respect, and Attention
Two fighters have been circling each other since before anyone kept records, and the purse has never changed hands: the human gaze. In one corner burns a furnace so vast that something like a million Earths could rattle around inside it, the engine behind every green leaf and every heartbeat on this planet. In the other corner floats a charcoal-colored rock, airless and dead, throwing back about twelve percent of the light that hits it. On paper the match is a slaughter. In practice the rock has been taking rounds for ten thousand years, and the strangest fact on the whole card is a matter of scheduling, since only one of these two shows up for both shifts. […] -

Intentionally calling to mind the desire for myself and others to be safe, healthy, and at ease in the world can be challenging enough on its own.
Dealing with the gulf between that intention and our lived reality is a whole other matter, even if I understand that acting with that intention in mind can help over the long-term.

It is not a bad thing that children should occasionally, and politely, put parents in their place.

A quotation from Marcus Aurelius
Kindness is invincible, if it be sincere and not hypocritical or a mere facade. For what can the most insulting of people do to you if you are consistently kind to him, and, when the occasion allows, gently advise him and quietly put him on the proper course at the very time when he is attempting to do you a mischief. “No, my son, we were born for something other than this; it is not I who am harmed, it is you, my son, who are causing harm to yourself.”

When on long, dark mornings creatures linger in the shadows, what brings me through the hollow hour is not endurance for it is benevolence that ignites the dawn.

"Contrary to received wisdom, though, relational security isn’t built through adherence to societal norms – getting married, having children, cohabiting – but through honest conversations, making and keeping agreements, learning how to love one another and to repair when things go awry. Can you talk to your partner about what building security could look like for you two?"

A valid index by which to evaluate the influence other people have on us is by how much they increase or diminish our benevolence toward our fellow men.

A quotation from Marcus Aurelius
In a word, there is only one thing here worth the minding, and that is, to be true and just, and to show benevolence, even to the untrue and unjust.

Generosity and benevolence weave a tapestry of kindness, enriching giver and receiver alike.
Generosity gives freely—time, knowledge, empathy—without expecting return, saying, “I care.”
Benevolence seeks to do good, fostering connection and positive change. Together, they break barriers, build community, and remind us: in giving, we grow.

« Art thy not content that thou hast done something conformable to thy nature, and dost thou seek to be paid for it? Just as if the eye demanded recompense for seeing, or the feet for walking. For as these members are formed for a particular purpose... so also is man formed by nature to acts of benevolence. »
— Marcus Aurelius

Generosity and benevolence are two luminous threads in the fabric of human character, intertwining to create a tapestry of kindness & compassion that enriches both giver and receiver
Generosity, at its core, is the act of giving freely and selflessly, extending beyond mere material or monetary donations
It's about the willingness to share time, knowledge, & empathy without expecting anything in return. It's a gesture that says, "I care", without uttering a single word
Benevolence, on the other hand, is the intrinsic desire to do good and bring about positive change
It's an attribute that drives individuals to look beyond themselves and consider the well-being and happiness of others
Benevolence is not just about acts of kindness; it's an attitude, a way of being that sees and responds to the needs of others with a warm heart. By embodying these values, we set an example for others and contribute to a kinder, more empathetic world

Well he didn't. But he sure got the #benefits.
#Mastodon is *not* "the #network", anyway.
It would be rather naive to believe #Rochko wouldn't have an #agenda, too. Though loudly proclaimed, #benevolence doesn't look like his strong suit. And how are you so sure he hasn't cashed out himself. You might give it a shot and ask him about his personal and entrepreneurial assets.
I like your #modesty but ask yourself how long it took before you got stuck with a basic functionality that just isn't there as one would expect it.
As for me, I'm reluctant to fix this. I'm just waiting for the next thing and try to act in the real life much more. After all, who knows how long that's going to be still possible?
Gods? Nah, not really.
Positively yours, too. It's really not against you but you have been warned (I had too): this network can be at least as frustrating as the other ones.
Well, you'll find out and I'm sure you'll make the best of whatever happens.
Good talking, bye.

Alexander Maclaren, Scottish Baptist minister, writes about bad charity. He says we must not cast off items as one would a bone to a dog. Our heart must go with them, make ourselves one with the sufferer— com-passion.
Can we end up putting so much scrutiny upon our giving that we give the recipients a sort of pre-emptive doubt at the honesty of the appeal?
How can you send your heart along?
