Bonjour! Avez-vous des recommandations pour un #lbs (#magasin / #réparateur #vélo local) spécialisée dans les entraînements à courroie (#BeltDrive) à #Montréal, idéalement dans les environs du Mile End ou de Côte-des-Neiges?

Mon vélo utilitaire / 4 saison a rendu l'âme ce matin (pour être franc j'y suis pour quelque chose la dedans 😢) et comme je voulais déjà passer aux courroies c'est l'occasion de le changer. Besoin rapidement car c'est aussi mon vélo d'hiver!

I emailed Gates:

"you shouldn’t flip your sprockets, as this will alter your beltline and negatively affect the lifespan of the drivetrain.

As far as the belt itself goes after talking with an engineer, if the drivetrain isn’t setup “fixed” and there are no braking forces being transmitted through the belt, you may find you’re able to extend the life by flipping it, but no guarantee as to how long it will last from there."

I have been using my first Gates belt + sprockets for some 5000km and they are starting to show a little bit of wear, which is of course mostly on the front of the belt "teeth" and the back of the sprocket "teeth".

I am thinking about flipping the belt / sprockets around to distribute the wear and thus extend the lifetime of the components.

Is this a good idea or a bad one?

This mid drive combo motor + gearbox for ebike looks absolutely amazing.

Already a huge ebike fan, but this sort of innovation is the sort of thing that stands to transition an e-bike from fun and great for people accustomed to, or willing to become accustomed to, all the little quirks about bike drive trains, from when to shift, to what oil to use on a chain [not WD-40?!], etc. to "just works"

Getting close to being a real bike finally! Just need to buy/install brake cables and swap the belt drive cog onto the rear wheel. Which unfortunately means I need to bug a friend to help me remove the Miche cog carrier off it first and buy a new cog lock ring removal tool that will work with belt drive cogs. 🙄
