So now I suppose I’ve literally painted myself into a corner and have to do a painting at some point showing the Belt of Venus. I am going to need a pretty good photo that I can use as reference, it being raining all the time here lately in the UK - where it rains a lot but lately is giving above and beyond the call of duty. So if you have some good images of the Belt of Venus that I can use as reference let me know. #beltofvenus

Taken a few years ago in October, Seattle as seen from the waterfront. The full moon is just rising behind downtown and is enveloped in the Belt of Venus while the iconic Space Needle stands to the side. In the foreground is the remains of the Seattle Post Intelligencer.

The Belt of Venus is a natural occurring phenomenon that presents itself on the opposite side of the horizon of the fully set sun. The upper pink and lower dark blue band ay the horizon happens as the Earth's shadow is cast onto our atmosphere from the sun which is now fully set and lasts through out civil-twilight.
Also, it just looks so #%$&ing pretty.

More spectacular shots from the plane
As I mentioned earlier, the first flight left before dawn provided an extended (because flying westward) pre-dawn and sunrise show. When I fly, I always try to look for optical phenomenon and this flight was the most spectacular I have ever seen.
