  1. The common #daisy, #Bellis #perennis (#Asteraceae), was originally native to the #Mediterranean region, Western Asia, and North Africa. It arrived in Central Europe through early human activity and is therefore named an #archaeophyte. A. Rathore et al. (2024) identified two #begomoviruses from it for the first time using PCR and full-length DNA analysis.

Didn’t make the #Winter10 with this week’s slim #WildFlowerHour pickings, but here are some slightly unseasonable Dandelion (#Taraxacum agg.), Daisy (#Bellis perennis), False Oxlip (Primula × polyantha - probably a garden escape, but naturalised on this bank) and White Dead-nettle (Lamium album). All in #WestSussex #VC13 except the lamium #Surrey #VC17
