Y'know I was thinking about Grasshoppers vs. Postcards last night and all the really quite in-world dreadful news that was coming in in dialogue and over army comms and I kinda realised

if you're from a world and time where all your live war news comes in over radio and you've just been through a couple of real wars, one of which was the biggest the world had ever seen

Welp, that was a pretty good #Monsterdon flick, even if we fell short of a convincing massive pile of drowned giant locusts at the end. Both leads had genuine talent, the writing and effects were at least up to par for a 1957 giant radioactive grasshoppers movie, and it was a lot of fun overall.

Thanks for the good time, everybody. Go forth and polygraph the giant insect of your choice. And always remember, playing excruciatingly loud music on your boat saves lives.

I give The Beginning of the End 4 out of 5 giant radioactive locusts. It was surprisingly watchable. Also, yay Chicago.

The best character was the stock footage battle sequences with giant bugs chattering at tanks and somehow defeating them. The worst character was the giant inedible tomato.
