Sunday was the first time I went #climbing on actual rock since my knee operation 4 months ago. Only very easy grades (5a or lower), only toprope, but I had a blast. The weather was great, I climbed with nice people and I was really happy to be there again. Still some way to go, but it's a step by step process.

@mkroehnert Most crags in Belgium are limestone. This one's a bit special because it's a dolomite form of limestone. But I don't know if that's the reason for all the pockets/holes. That's very typical of #Beez only. If you follow the hashtag, you can see some more pictures I posted last year.

Bit of a miserable day of #climbing in #Beez, #belgium yesterday. Got spooked while leading the first easy climb. Continued on top-rope and couldn't finish any of the subsequent routes without hangdogging. Frustrating...
It's a style of climbing that's not really my favorite though. Slightly overhanging with lots of pockets and you can't really see which are the good ones until you move to them. So lots of trying, retreating, etc. Which requires more strength than I have available.

After two weekends of slab #climbing, today it was time to do something different. This crag is #Beez, near #Namur and bordering the river #Meuse. It consists of Dolomite rock, with lots of little cracks and pockets. Most routes are slightly overhanging, so the climbing is more physical.

My friend picked up the #Beez #BoardGame (going cheap in TKMaxx iirc). The components are super cute, I wish I’d taken a better pic of the little bees that fly round the flowers collecting nectar to put in your honeycomb. You score based on the location and patterns of the nectar at the end. Lovely components and more strategic than we thought at first. On our second play we were both despairing at the seeming impossibility of getting the right colours into the right patterns.
