We found a new friend this morning. Meet the great diving beetle. OH rescued him from the hens' water (the hens were worryingly interested) and we put him in a pond where he'll be much happier.

CW: Creepy crawly
Last night Mrs Ratcatcher was rudely awakened by this beetle landing on her cheek. It then flew around the room for a bit (by which time I was, of course, awake, too). Then it settled down for the night (as did we, eventually).
This morning it was sitting on the net curtain so we captured, photographed and liberated it.

🤣 I just damn near had a heart attack! I'm just sitting in the kitchen, in my "office", watching TV, minding my own business...

This thing apparently flew in through the open window, and flew full boogie into my noggin... 🪲 ...whereupon I leapt out of my chair, screaming like a little girl.
I didn't know I could move that fast, or squeal in such a high pitch. 🙄
