My latest article for the local paper talks about #Kernza, a newish, processed grain derived from a perennial intermediate wheatgrass, and its use in brewing — specifically, in two new beers from #DeschutesBrewery, Kernza Lager and #NonAlcoholic Kernza Golden Brew. For the article I focused on the non-alcoholic brew, the first certified organic NA #beer in the country.

Crux teamed up with #RogueCreamery of southern Oregon to brew a #lambic style ale in which the same microorganisms used to create Rogue’s #BlueCheese were used to inoculate the wort.
