I was trying to explain #Mastodon to a #beertwitter friend who said he didn't understand it. I used the following analogy:
It's like a series of pubs all interconnected by hallways. You choose which pub you want to sit in, but you can talk to & toast your buddy in a different pub, without having to leave yours, and if you use hashtags, you essentially invite patrons from all the other pubs to toast and talk with you and your buddies.

One of the interesting thing about Mastodon is going to be the reshuffling of who is recognized as a semi-pro beer world authority. Twitter has promoted a certain type of voice in the beer world just like IG promoted another sort. Not sure adding "expert" to a bio will be enough. #beer #beertwitter
