  1. #Beer review of Howdy Porter (Vanilla Bean) by #AmericanSolera from #Tulsa #Oklahoma

    Ratings (1-5 scale):
    Look: 4.75 Aroma 4.5 Flavor 4.5 Mouthfeel 4.75 Overall: 4.75

(One important note - this is a different beer than American Solera's regular Howdy Porter that is a coconut porter with a higher ABV)

I poured this from a can into a pint glass. Excellent chocolate aroma. Very smooth mouthfeel. Very dark with a tan head. This one reminded me some of Breckridge's Vanilla Porter, except this was maybe a little smoother.

    Strong recommendation.

#BeerReview of Migrating Coconuts by #RoughtailBrewing

    4.88/5 rDev +23.2%
    look: 4.75 | smell: 4.75 | taste: 5 | feel: 5 | overall: 4.75

One of my favorite winter seasonals.

Smooth, smooth mouthfeel, full but also a tiny bit fluffy. Flavor is nice, with some bittersweet chocolate, maybe some cherries, and of course, toasted coconuts.

    "Are you suggesting coconuts migrate?"

Apparently the answer is a yes, because despite Oklahoma's somewhat temperate climate, one can drink beer, made of coconuts, in Oklahoma.

  9. #SaintArnold #gummyworm flavored #beer.

Flavor 😛 9/10, tastes sweet and nails the flavor. Doesn't feel like grain alcohol.

Vibe 😌 8/10, idk I like it, but not sure I can drink that many.

    Overall a fun try.

  16. Screamin' Hill Brewery

On our way back home from Icarus Brewing’s Lager Fest, I realised we’d be passing through Cream Ridge, where Screamin' Hill Brewery is located. The sun was still shining so ee made a spontaneous decision to stop for a second brewery visit. Opening in the summer of 2015, Screamin' Hill holds a special place in New Jersey's brewing scene as the state’s first farm brewery. It’s situated on Bullock Farms, a six-generation family-owned property established in 1860. The founders—Brett […]

  17. By the last few swigs I was starting to taste a hint of nickel....

    Ok, here's my conclusion:

From a guy who is not a fan of IPA; this is easily the best IPA I've had. Still not something I would probably order for myself, but actually good and a brew I would not be at all miffed if a buddy bought for me.

Best enjoyed poured cold, and drank with purpose. And at 9% ABV, I probably wouldn't even notice the bitterness in a second glass.

I give New Belgium's Voodoo Ranger Imperial IPA a solid 3/5.

Steamwhistle Pilsner (from Toronto) - Enjoyed on board a VIA Rail train from Windsor to Toronto.

Best I've had of this style in a long time. Perfectly fitting the style. Clean crisp but also complex. Lots of grain and spot-on hopping. Perfectly clear.

Truly the best pilsner I've had in years. I'm hoping this is a sign of good beer drinking to come this week in Canada.

  21. Completing the Aunt Bessie's #beer review, we moved on and drank the two pale ales and are now on the porter. All three of these were dessert based and better than the roast dinner brown ale before them.

The apple pale ale was a little too sharp and bitter on the front with the custard back not offsetting it quite enough.

The jam was a better mix and more typical of some sweeter ales we've had before.

This sticky toffee porter is the best of the bunch, as we suspected.

We've just opened the Roast Dinner Pale Ale to share.

There's a smell that reminds me of goose fat (or similar) that you'd roast potatoes in; definitely a roasting tin aroma of some description. Taste-wise, there's a hint of gravy there. Better than it sounds.

It's not something I'd drink a lot of, but it's not the worst ale I've had, and you can't argue it doesn't achieve what it claims on the tin.

    Groundhog's Shadow (Hazelnut brown ale)

Poured from a 12 oz can into a pint glass mahogany brown liquid, clear with a large tan head that quickly goes away.

Slightly sweet aroma flavor is definitely nutty as promised but also some toasty and sweet elements maybe a tiny bit of maple. Medium to full mouthfeel.

I really enjoyed this beer a lot and it makes me wish that more breweries made good quality Brown ales. I also like ipas and other hop forward beers but there are times that are really crave toasty malted flavor and this one fits the bill quite nicely.

#TrraderJoes has some crazy cheap (7.49/12 pack in OKC) beer and it is surprisingly good.

    Very malty, slightly sweet, toasty/nutty

    Full mouth feel.

Oddly enough, this reminds of a maltier version of Fat Tire.
