If you're looking for a #Streaming alternative you might want to see if your #PublicLibrary offers #Hoopla or something similar. The library pays for each checkout, so I think artists are compensated but I can't confirm that. And it probably doesn't have the selection of the bigger platforms. But they've got the complete #BeBopDeluxe catalog. That's enough to keep me happy for a while! 🎶 👍 😁 #BillNelson #Music #ClassicRock #ArtRock #ProgRock

Another successful trip to grit city to find good music to play of an evening. This time we made our way to Drastic Plastic and it did not disappoint scoring a copy of Bill Nelson’s debut solo LP, along with a BeBop Deluxe Drastic Plastic promo poster, and some more Coleman Hawkins et al.

This is just a fun record.

I know, I know, it sounds a lot like Bowie; #BillNelson hated the comparison.
I can see why: this album SOUNDS like Bowie, in terms of the production/engineering/mixing.
But songwriting-wise, it's its own thing, for sure.
And the #guitar work on this thing is just beautiful.

I adore the last track not in spite of, but *because* of its faux grandiosity; strings, naivete, passionate vocal, climactic sustained final note and all!
