Just participated in my first ever live #BeatSaber community event - RSIH.

It was good fun and the maps were a visual and audio treat! Absolutely not suitable for people who are photosensitive or easily disorientated in VR. The whole thing seemed to go off without a hitch and it was one-click to install all of the necssary mods and components.

I was not playing at my peak, and fluffed up some easy bits. Still, I narrowly avoided failing any of the songs, Full Combo'd one and missed a FC on another by 2 notes. Ended up finishing in the middle of the leaderboard, which was nice.

Eagerly awaiting the songs' release on #BeatSaver so I can grab them to play at my leisure. Looking forward to the next event, whenever that may be!

The #Prodigy DLC dropped for #BeatSaber the other day so ofc I had to get it.

The bad:
Only 6 songs. Compared to the Monstercat 2 DLC which has 12 or so, that feels stingy especially when you consider the sheer number of hits they've had over the years. I wonder if it's because they're holding back for a second DLC at some point.

The good:
It's pretty good fun. The songs are all on the longer side and the environments and lightshows are epic. It's built with the OST8 tech of finer-grained walls and variable note jump speed, and some of the songs use these for great evil...

I can finally play Firestarter, Yes That One. (No shade to OST5.)
FC'd it first try on Hard too. I'll try Expert tomorrow!

Pokud máte dva různé typy #VR od Mety, s jedním účtem multiplayer nepustíte (ověřeno). Z hlediska principu připojení je to asi logické, ale přidáním dalšího účtu jste odkázáni pouze na základní písně, případně je asi musíte znovu koupit i pro nový účet (to jsem nezkoušel).

U Steamu je to podobné, tam dokonce musíte mít dva účty aby se vůbec spustil #SteamVR. I Steam umožňuje sdílení her mezi účty, ale nemůžete je pustit z obou účtů současně, takže ty, co chcete hrát v multiplayeru musíte mít koupené / získané pro každý účet zvlášť.

Takže včera došlo na lokální #PvP #BeatSaber a #Blaston a #coop #Propagation. Je to docela zábava a výrazně lepší než s někým anonymním po netu 😁.

I wish there was another Beat Saber map for Power by Little Mix. The one by Cirzzo rules, but on Expert+, it has a section where it just spams notes senselessly. The jump in notes per second from Expert to Expert+ is 3.74 to 6.79 - and that's on average. For me, that doesn't make the map more fun, but I'm at 85% now for Expert and that's pretty much where I peak, so while the map is still fun, the challenge is over.

Damn, that Tom Morello song from FF XIV is super fun in #BeatSaber. Tried it on a higher difficulty today and it just slaps. Logically, I played Toxicity afterwards and that's also a great map (by Jerk). Having been a drummer helped lol.
Lastly I tried out Cut The Bridge by Linkin Park (mapped by Faded 99) and while that's pretty hard since it's an Expert+ only map, it's also really fun. Need to check out more maps of that mapper. Looks like they did most 2025 Linkin Park songs! Awesome!

Been uhming and aahing about jumping into modded #BeatSaber for a while now.
Mostly I'm not good enough yet to be able to play most of the modded maps (I'm not yet able to do Expert+ in base game and I can only Full Combo the easiest Experts). Other issues around losing the ability to play multiplayer with my friends were assuaged by the existence of a mod that lets you swap between versions.

To test the waters I was mucking about with BeatSage, which takes a music track and automatically generates a map for it that can be dropped into the Custom Tracks folder without modding. The maps it makes are... an experience. They look like the BeatSaber equivalent of early AI art. You can see what it's trying to create if you tilt your head and squint a bit, but up close it's jank. Notes INSIDE walls? Oh well, at least I can dance* to music that's not in the base game or Monstercat DLCs.

*(in as much as my foot allows, which is improving albeit glacially.)

Ah cool, Spotify erlaubt wohl zukünftig keinen API-Zugriff mehr ohne Premium-Account. Außerdem nur noch eine App pro Developer und sie schmeißen die Hälfte der API-Endpoints raus.

Weil wegen bösen AI-scrapern, muss man wissen. Um die Creator zu schützen, is klar.

Hab da ja eigentlich so ein Tool (https://beat-saver-matcher.uwu.industries), womit man Beatsaber Beat Maps anhand Playlists suchen kann, aber dann tut das wohl zukünftig nur noch mit Tidal 🤷‍♂️ .

I've been kicked of my throne of being the world record holder of the Beat Saber map Sky Mall (Vulfpeck) by (S. C.) J. P.! Scandalous. Except not. My score was pretty lame, I just happened to be the only person to have ever played the map at two of the difficulties. Now for Hard and Expert, the mapper is 1st (I'm still 2nd on Hard - of 4 lol). There's also quite a few more entries now. The map was curated, I guess that's why people showed up and the mapper felt compelled to score.

Had an ear worm of a song I know from #BeatSaber and wanted to see whether I can stream it somewhere in decent quality. Sadly, the answer was no.

But I did find an album containing it along a few others I also know and like!

CD was 2200¥ before shipping and everything tough…

Looked on #Ebay and apparently people sell old rental CDs from #Japan for like 11 $ + 5 $ shipping. They have wear obviously but I don't really care about mint condition as long as it looks presentable and the disc works.

Huh apparently BeatLeader does log all attempts! Did they always do that? Is the UI new and it just was never exposed? I never noticed. Nice. I'm not really training for higher scores and that gives me a nice overview of an entire session instead of just my new high-scores. No replays though.

4th day of #BeatSaber in a row. I think I'll soon go back to taking a break and then doing another session to make it an actual workout. (I hate taking breaks because my glasses will steam up.)

I probably have a new favorite map. The Catalyst by Linkin Park mapped by Bytrius is absolutely fantastic. Played it on Expert+ and it's so intuitive I'm still singing along some parts. Combined it with The Chain (Fleetwood Mac) and Lose Yourself (Eminem) today, two more songs with great tension buildup.

Last night I almost full-comboed The Catalyst by Linkin Park, mapped by Bytrius, first try (Expert)! I never full-comboed a map first try and this one is almost 6 min long! 1083 of 1085 notes damnnnn. Guess I'm back in shape after last year's break and might make some progress this year. (It's a rather easy Expert though, like with a lot of maps for long songs.)

OST8 dropped for #beatsaber on #pcvr today!*

It's a lot of fun, and visually the best one yet. It's 6 tracks like the last 4 were but they're all pretty varied in terms of difficulty and style. It's got Camellia, Dragonforce, Lindsay Sterling and Teminite x Boom Kitty who have been my consistent faves since OST 4.

The new mechanics gimmick was the one teased in the free song we got earlier in the year - Danger by Teminite x Boom Kitty: Variable note speed. And oh boy, does The Master make use of it for pure evil in his sequel track.

For a brief, beautiful moment I was #1 and K was #2 on the leaderboard for the Lindsay Sterling song (see pic). I bet that lasted all of 5 minutes.

*It dropped for other platforms last week but AMD's latest crashfest driver update delayed the launch while it got fixed. AMD can't seem to avoid stepping on obvious rakes...

My VTuber model colour changes to match the map, and later a glitch effect is applied when I hit the wall.

The plugin just generates VNyan nodes with info, so you can do what you like

There are two other plugins in use here:

Jayo's Poiyomi Plugin. For changing Poiyomi shader parameters at runtime from within VNyan

Peak - First playthrough, and using the extra players mod. Far too many people to mention for this one so it's probably going to be utter chaos

Beat Saber - 3 player multiplayer w/ Linokii & Grey_Area

Worms 1.5 (Amiga) - SkyRoseKNA5500 & ReignOfError will be joining me for some retrogaming chaos

FFXIV - P10S. Just because it's my streamerversary doesn't mean I'm gonna skip out on raid night, we just add it to the event because why not!

Jackbox & Gartic Phone - No streamerversary is complete without these two. Lets see what cursed degenerate "art" people come up with that probably won't get me banned me from Twitch... right?

But that's not all, because this year we're rolling over into Sunday. Starting 6PM UK time (1PM EST) I'll be doing my first ever TTRPG stream. #VR is kinda fun.

VR #headsets kinda suck. The controllers aren't bad, really, but the headsets are awkwardly balanced, relatively heavy, and come with a long, thick tethering cable that gets in your way (and you can even quite easily get tangled up in it). I've lost count of the times I've either managed to hook a controller in the cable while playing #BeatSaber, or gotten it tangled around my ankles. Beat Saber's 360 mode is particularly bad, because it's easily possible to accumulate multiple complete turns in the same direction.

Wireless adapters for wired VR headsets such as the HTC Vive and Valve Index (which I understand to be more or less the HTC Vive 3) exist, but they suck as well, not least because they rely on their own dedicated WLAN in the already-overcrowded 2.4-2.5GHz band. (WiFi, Bluetooth, microwave ovens, wireless doorbells, some cordless phones...) The crowdsourced wireless adapter for the Valve Index has almost 70% negative comments, citing everything from short battery life and poor visual quality to repeated crashes and software drivers that often take multiple reboots to get them to work.

I've been working on trying to work around this with a passive cable suspension rig to try to feed the cable from directly overhead and auto-retract it when there is slack.

And you know? It's not working badly at all. I still have some fine tuning to do, but ... I think I'm definitely making progress.

#BeatSaber is a surprisingly good workout. Particularly #Lindsey #Stirling in Beat Saber. Damn, girl. You are the most.

Now I need a break to cool off.

*Dependent on whether my internal organs can handle it on a given day. I play #TetrisEffectConnected in VR instead when they can't. I'm, uh, distinctly average at it but I enjoy the VR experience a great deal.

VNyan 1.6 composited into Beat Sabre via LIVs RL camera support instead of using VRM. This allows for Unity 2022 models with full physics, all redeems working etc.

Need to tweak tracker offsets, but I'm very happy with this first test. Guide coming soon!

TLDR guide: Point VNyan camera in roughly the correct direction, install my "Extras" plugin and call the function to rip the VNyan camera co-ordinates.
Set up LIV as if you were a fleshtuber with a greenscreen using a real camera, but point it at a virtual camera running your VNyan (I used OBS + sprout capture + a green background). In the advanced section of the LIV camera settings there's an option to paste in camera values, use the values you got from my plugin. Enable the "meta quest offsets" option as for some reason it doesn't work otherwise

Then do final adjustments to tracker offsets, which I haven't bothered to do in this video
