Originally created by the highly talented John Lasseter (Disney and Pixar), it was replaced by flat artwork made by someone without any artistic or design skills or taste. It's like someone who can't code well contributed to the core of the operating system, and everyone applauded. I don't agree with this change 👎
Yes the original artwork is outdated and should be refreshed, but not to degrade it.

what file manager do you like / prefer / use?
I’m very not-happy with #Nautilus (a.k.a. “Files” 🙄) – I swear it used to be good maybe a decade or two ago but now it feels like a babby’s first file manger with minimal configuration options 😤 (am I thinking of a different old file manger? possibly…? 🤔)
I’ve been toying around with different distros in VMs & find #Dolphin OK enough that I’ve installed it on my actual current-but-soon-to-be-ex #PopOS† install, but it’s from #KDE-land so doesn’t understand #GNOME light / dark mode & consistently blinds me… 🕶️
I’m enjoying #Debian 13 KDE atm, & it seems like it will probably support the old (beast) laptop I’m using for all things Linux
I think I found #Thunar OK when I was playing with an #XFCE install on something recently but really need to revisit it & I’m not sure that it’ll integrate well if I end up running KDE #Wayland rather than… well, XFCE 🤪 (or anything else GNOME-y)

Lot of fuss lately about the Gnome logo.
I'm not a fan of it myself, it's not reflective of the project in that it doesn't resonate with what the project is about. It certainly isn't as elegant as what the project is producing now as a desktop environment.
Someone made a joke yesterday that the logo was actually a stylized shark. Chuckles, but if you squint... shark, sailfish, etc.
But, logos with animals...
I've never been a fan of Tux either so there's that. :linux: There have been "reinterpretations" of the Tux logo that look pretty sharp. I am aware of the history and Linus' involvement in the logo so don't 'at' me with that.
I am a fan of the current, modern looking FreeBSD logo. :freebsd: It harkens back to the original Beastie while being modern and elegant looking. Some people probably consider it watered down or too simplistic. And that's fine.
But, I'm just random wildlife making noise in the woods.
