I somehow ended up with press accreditation at Bearded Theory festival last weekend. Somehow got interviews. Somehow, all of the audio is actually usable. This Tuesday, Alt-Shift's Jess and I are doing a full debrief on Lichfield Radio — Black Water County, Ferocious Dog, The Bar-Steward Sons of Val Doonican.... the lot.

Back from Bearded Theory festival and I had a great time and saw some great music!

Not going to list every act that I enjoyed, but Lambrini Girls, Panic Shack and CMAT were all absolutely amazing and probably my top three.

Low point of the weekend was a tedious 90 minutes of The Pixies with zero energy and no Debaser. I have never seen a band more “turning up for the paycheck”.

I *think* we’re all packed and ready for #beardedTheory. Just gotta move it all into the back of the car in the morning. The weather forecast is looking suspiciously grand!

I didn’t realise Jon Poole was back playing with The Wildhearts again.

There’ll be strong #cardiacs adjacent representation at #beardedTheory this year, what with Ginger, Jon Poole and Mike Vennart all performing.

Last night's theaardvark live is in the archive. New microphone, eclectic playlist with a heavy Bearded Theory influence, and a live pork scratching tasting that the Committee expressly disclaimed responsibility for.

I'm pleasantly surprised to see The Damned are on the main stage, despite playing below Skunk Anansie. I'd expected them to be in the Meadow tent as their punk/goth headline act.

Well, this is the best news I’ve had today! Walpurgis added to the #beardedTheory lineup on the Sunday night!

Praise Iommi. Praise Butler. Praise Ward. Praise Osbourne.

Well, I've taken the plunge and ordered some LoRa bits and pieces off aliexpress.

I want to see if we can use #meshtastic to keep in touch when we're at #beardedTheory festival later in the year, where I know that mobile data is almost non-existent.

The #beardedTheory website uses this awful visual style that's really hard to read. All caps, and very narrow word spacing.

But the weird thing is, if you copy paste the text into an editor it's all properly formatted. It looks like they've used a typeface for the webpage that transposes everything to upper case. Why would you do that? 🫤

Big Special, Getdown Services, Sprints, The Unthanks, Goldie, PWEI, Senser, Wedding Present and Miki Berenyi are standouts for me from that lot.

I'll watch Pixies and Skunk Anansie if there's nothing better...I've not see PWEI since Clint left, so that could be interesting.

I love Tiger's voice; that and the music reminds me a lot of Rilo Kiley and Wilco.
