🧸 La fiebre de los Beanie Babies: cuando vender felicidad es un negocio 💸
La frase que se me quedó grabada 🧠
Estaba viendo La fiebre de los peluches Beanie (disponible en Apple TV 📺), y en una escena donde intentan convencer a un inversor de apostarle a esos peluches en plena crisis, sueltan una joya que me quedó dando vueltas en la cabeza:
“Ahora más que nunca se necesita vender felicidad.”
Y sí… esa frase no solo aplica en los 90s. También suena muy 2025.
Una película que sí vale la pena 🎬✨
Si no la has visto, está 100% recomendada. Es de esas joyitas ocultas que mezclan nostalgia, marketing, capitalismo y ternura, todo al mismo tiempo. Basada en hechos reales, muestra cómo un peluche simple se volvió fenómeno cultural.
Y lo que más me sorprendió fue cómo se siente tan actual.
De Beanie Babies a Labubu 🎁💥
Hoy no estamos llenando repisas con Beanies (aunque hay quien aún los guarda), pero la historia se repite con otros coleccionables. Uno de los más claros: Labubu, los muñequitos adorables de POP MART que están en todos lados. Pequeños, misteriosos, cute y con ediciones limitadas que la gente pelea en reventas.
Lo mismo que pasó con los Beanie Babies: empiezan siendo “para niños”, pero terminan siendo una obsesión adulta. Una excusa para comprar felicidad en miniatura.
Porque sí, los Labubu también están vendiendo eso: felicidad instantánea en tiempos de crisis.
¿Por qué esto sigue funcionando? 💭
Porque cuando todo afuera está caótico, necesitamos agarrarnos de algo. Algo que nos haga sentir bien, aunque sea por un ratito. Algo que podamos tener, tocar, coleccionar. Los Beanie Babies fueron eso en los 90s. Hoy, los Labubu —y otros objetos cute, estéticos o limitados— cumplen el mismo rol.
🎯 El marketing lo sabe y lo explota.
💡 Reflexión final
La peli lo dice todo con una sola frase: “Ahora más que nunca se necesita vender felicidad”.
Y mientras más crisis hay, más funciona. Porque no estamos comprando objetos, estamos comprando respiros. Pequeños momentos de ilusión, ternura o nostalgia.Y la pregunta incómoda:
¿Somos víctimas del sistema o simplemente estamos sobreviviendo como podemos? 🤷♀️¿Ya viste la peli?
