  1. Having fun with a #beaglebone #BBAI64 by blinking _synchronously_ 2 leds from 2 _different_ PRUs of the same subsystem. No jitter!
Why? This is tutorial baby steps to handle the BBAI64. My eventual goal is to do #sdr radio.

  2. I'm forever wanting more/reliable #linux #freebsd #serial #console. While the latest 1U servers have working ipmi and BMCs, there are still many older systems that do not, plus #beaglebone #rpi and random ESP32 things.
USB serial has gotten better, with many devices now having actual serial numbers (without which, the ports come up randomly), but there are still many challenges. RS232 (+-12V) vs 5V-TTL, 3.3V TTL, and even 1.8V TTL. NULL modem vs not. RTS/CTS desired, but often a problem.
I wonder if it's possible to (via small FPGA?) to do such a thing.
Maybe it just needs to be an expensive debug tool that tells people who didn't live through the 1980s how to hook stuff up. Maybe @azonenberg has a notion. Are there I/O pins that can do -12V/+12V or 1.8V? Obviously when debugging, one wants to listen to all pins for a signal, figure out how strong it is, and which is the TX and RX, and then reprogram.... and only then exceed 1.8V.

  4. Lilbits: Mozilla kills Pocket and Fakespot, ASRock crams a desktop Arrow Lake chip into a 1.92 liter mini PC

Eighteen years ago a Firefox browser extension called Read It Later was launched, providing a way to save web pages to… well, read later. Over time the service added features, changed its name to Pocket, launched mobile apps, and got acquired by Firefox maker Mozilla.

Now Mozilla has announced plans to shut down Pocket on July 8, 2025. Users can export (some of) their data until October, […]

  5. How to get a kernel panic on a #beaglebone:

    $ echo 0 >/sys/class/leds/mmc0::/brightness

    #exactsteps

  6. Well, this is annoying. Somewhere between v6.9 and v6.10, one of the serial ports on the #beaglebone black stopped working properly. It has something to do with DMA. I guess the AM33xx has reached the stage of gradual deterioration in kernel support where little things keep breaking but nobody notices because all the developers have moved on to newer, shinier things.

  7. Realtime Audio Platform: @degville introduces you to Bela, an ultra-low-latency embedded audio platform with high-performance audio and sensor processing makerspace-online.com/bela/

  8. Today I'm reading through a fantastic technical book "Mastering Embedded Linux Programming" by @csimmonds and Frank Vasquez which is easy to read and pitched at exactly the level I hoped. Most examples are for the black (mine will have to come out from its retirement drawer soon!)
This will definitely make it easier than the previous floundering around with my collection and let me do more of what I want with them!

  9. Another not-so-scrappy find today: this was apparently part of a display stand in a Vodafone shop. It's a #beaglebone #sbc mounted on a metal plate, with an LCD plus touchscreen on the other side. It just boots to this simple marketing presentation.

  10. My birthday board arrived! As I had become wary of the Zima, I decided to be super impractical and dramatic and went for the board that has haunted me for a bit.

    AI-64: docs.beagleboard.org/latest/bo

One of the reasons I got into SBCs very hardcore was that they could be both general usage AND task-dedicated. I do get the attraction to mini computers and smaller computers, but I really like that I no longer have to scrub my server every three months because I wnated to learn something.

  11. While surfing the wilds of new , I stopped by , saw they had two (2!) new boards and went to look

    -Fire: beagleboard.org/boards/beaglev

Reading the specs, I was pretty sure I either suffered a random bout of brain damage or I was hallucinating, then I got to Storage where I recognized some of the words. Not all of them, but some. So that was fun.

    -Ahead: beagleboard.org/boards/beaglev

I am not brain damaged and that is how to organize new (to me) hardware words.

  12. This might be a way to provide a pre-configured kali environment for users who insist on bringing Windows laptops to workshops.

I don't need a lot of extras, but my workshop currently runs best if the participant has a device providing DHCP. Also, I have USB wifi dongles that need drivers installed to complete a task in the #UAV communications module.

So maybe #Kali on #BeagleBone + RDP to handle those Windows users.

  13. @coreysnipes

We bring a simple 'table top' #UAS.

    1. #UAV : A #BeagleBone Blue attached to a quad frame running either #ArduPilot or #PX4. We exploit network services and misconfigured firmware update

    2. #GCS : Android phone and gamepad joystick controller running #QGroundControl. We exploit vulnerable apps on the phone.

    3. COMMS: WiFi via the BB-Blue access point. We crack the #WiFi password and sniff #MAVLink off the air

The subtext is to demonstrate vulns in each of these subsystems and how you can use those to pivot from one to another.

Our audiences have varied from vendor sales and mgmt at Xponential to more technically mixed folks at BlackHat. Gonna be challenged to make it interesting for the technical audience at #PX4. But many UAS software engineers haven't really been exposed to how cybersecurity folks think and test, so I hope they find that fun.

  14. Since very few tutorials exist for the #beaglebone #BBAI64, I started to aggregate useful links and to document my learning path: github.com/loic-fejoz/beaglebo

I started with #PRU because it is pretty similar to other board like the #BBB black but I wish to soon test #DSP #c66x #c6x processor too.

  15. So deceiving that #beaglebone AI 64 does not support #opencl ! Or does it? There is a libOpenCL.so but did not manage to compile anything to use it...🫤
Will have to look now into #DSP with #c66x but already so few documentation...
