Beacon Hill Park, Victoria, British Columbia Walden Earth Day 2025Each year on Earth Day, I read from Henry David Thoreau’s famous work, Walden. My copy of Walden was a gift from my father which allows me to celebrate Earth Day by remembering our “Walden” conversations from years past. Dad agreed with Thoreau’s insights on living within our world: the importance of simplicity, self-sufficiency, and a deep appreciation for the natural environment that surrounds us. The changing seasons, the sounds of the forest, and the rhythms of life serve as a reminder of the interconnectedness of all living things.
