  1. Very nice morning out at #BroughtyFerry #BeachClean.

The weather was nice, albeit quite a bit of wind. Bha e gaothach!

No interesting finds this time, but quite a bit of #PalmOil (or similar looking solids) collected.

    What is that?

  2. Good first half of the Sunday with Gilles Peterson's #WorldwideShow, still on #FM4 and still also broadcast internationally

And then #BroughtyFerry #BeachClean (today no exciting find, mainly small plastic, hygiene products, and beach toys).

  3. Was out for the #BroughtyFerry #BeachClean.

Mainly plastic foils and packaging. Found a few socks. Maybe the time of year 😅

  4. Der Strandtag zwischen #Hartlepool und Seaton Carew (gesprochen Sietn Käruh) war erfolgreich und das Ergebnis mit 5 Autoreifen zu 1 BaustellenFahrzeugReifen kann sich sehen lassen.

  5. I'm not normally one for plugging stuff, but "what do I get her/him/it" time is upon us, and these guys are really worth supporting, they spend a lot of energy clearing ghost fishing gear from Northumberland's beaches and using some to make great little items & selling them in aid of ocean charities (over 75% of profit goes to the charities). #NorthSeaRejects #Green #BeachClean #Recycle #Tyneside #Northumberland

  6. Three of us met today for our #seashepherd #beachclean at Potato Garth, Sunderland.

It's small and not often used by the public, but is a haven for wildlife. Seals, sea otters and swans are seen down here.

We picked up 7-8 bin liners of numerous vapes, pieces of rope, plastic bags and broken glass, as well as polystyrene bits that get washed up there, weathering into ever smaller sizes and the risk of ingestion by marine wildlife.

  7. Surprisingly clean Roker beach #Sunderland - suspect gales the day before had blown a lot of surface debris off the beach, and sadly it’ll all appear again soon.

    Our #SeaShepherdUK
volunteers still took 13 bags of #marinedebris off.

  9. Another trip to Newbiggin with Sea Shepherd UK, another big haul of marine debris: about twenty bags, tyres, and a whole load of industrial piping and ghostnet and just…stuff.

  10. Productive weekend on the beaches with #SeaShepherdUK

Saturday, three of us digging and dragging off #ghostnet plus assorted tyres and lobster pots up in Northumberland.

Sunday, Blast Beach at Seaham, with a great turn out. 29 bags taken off, along with the usual weird industrial stuff, and a tractor tyre to haul to the top of a 30m cliff, and then 3/4 of a mile along the top, managing not to skittle any members of the public on the way which would have been a bit awkward.

  11. Some Local Heroes from Tyneside. The founder, Ben Gilbert was a strong climber, became a surfer and was horrified by the amount of ghost fishing gear on the Northumbrian beaches, so, with his partner, they set about clearing any they find and turn it into wrist bands/place mats, which they sell. All profits go to maritime charities.

  12. Our next #SeaShepherd UK #beachclean is a week today in Whitburn #Sunderland - all welcome. We'll supply all the gear, just bring a pair of gloves. Hope to see some of you there - and please share if you're local and anyone you know might be interested.
