  1. I posted that picture in a climbing group on Facebook and within 30 minutes the climbers were identified.

I’ve been in contact with one of the climbers and sent them my images, he was grateful!

Turns out they were trying a new route of the emperor face of Robson that they’d been scoping out for years. As far as they know, it was the first ascent of that line, and it’s absolutely bonkers.

Small world out there. #BCParks #mountaineering

  2. Last week I went camping near Mt Robson. As I often do, I left my camera out overnight. When reviewing the results, I noticed a couple of little lights on the side of of the mountain.

Couldn’t be climbers though, could it?

I cycled through several hours worth of shots and, sure enough, they move across the mountain face one at a time. First leading, then following.

What the heck are they doing up there in the middle of the night!?

  3. The cat is out of the bag (literally) that this part of #TheTrail is on BC’s old #KettleValleyRailway, but it is not the Kettle Valley Rail Trail … so here comes the next hint …

This part of the KVR was the most difficult section of the railway to build, and was the most expensive mile of track built anywhere in the world at the time. Care to harbour a guess as to what section of the #TransCanadaTrail this is?

  13. These #bcparks #camping reservations are becoming harder to get than concert tickets, it's wild. But here we go, Black Tusk trip in the works and its main logistics hurdle has been taken care of!

  14. We spent a couple of hours, walking around Hemer Provincial Park, yesterday. We both love this park & it was a fave when we lived in Cedar, at different times - back before we'd met.
Nice mixed forest. We found a big hollowed out trunk that went down pretty deep - it's the photo of Beau standing inside. Huge ferns, nettles & skunk cabbage plants were all over the park.
Wonderful time, immersing with nature, together 🥰

  16. Upper #Goldstream Falls.
Flip phone sideways for full #panoramic view.

The quieter, less busy area of #GoldstreamPark. It's great to hike there in late Fall & Winter, when the campground is gated off. You see almost no one else on the trails in off season.

  18. The #BCNDP #BCgovernment has said no to a proposal to create a #ProtectedArea for an area of #OldGrowth #cedars near #DuncanLake.

"At this time, #BCParks is not considering including this area in the provincial protected areas system," wrote Minister of Land, Water and Resource Stewardship #NathanCullen in a letter to Grant Trower of Howser, B.C., on Sept. 3.

Trower is the founder of the group #WildlifeHabitatsForTomorrow that has been advocating for the protection of a 531-hectare grove and wetland.

He wants #BritishColumbia to declare the #CedarGroves a protected area, which is a category of protection just short of a full-fledged provincial park.

“There are many #trees in this grove that are well over 1,000 years old, and one that is estimated to be 2,100 years old,” said Trower. “They are the largest trees in the whole southern interior #rainforest. It isn’t just old growth. It’s #ancient old growth.”

He told the Nelson Star that Cullen's letter will not deter him.

"The advocacy is ongoing to ensure this special place will remain for our kids and grandchildren, for this grove is unique and easy to experience," he said, adding that the next steps will include media attention, targeted field trips and obtaining #FirstNations #endorsement.
