The Deadman Falls, mid-August, 2020, so the flow is less than it might be at other times of the year, but is still impressive as it cascades down approximately 150–200 feet (best guess) into the pool at the head of the canyon. The upper rim surrounding this end of the canyon was burned to the ground the next summer during the Spark Lake wildfire that consumed nearly 900 square kilometres.

For today's moth shot we have Feralia deceptiva. We only get 2 Feralia species in BC, and I'm lucky to catch them both where I live. Unique-looking species; even my moth-deploring wife admits they're pretty attractive.

Always one of my favourites: a Ceanothus silk moth (Hyalophora euryalus) spotted in Osoyoos, BC in May of this year, Beautiful specimen, too. We get a ton of Polyphemus silk moth where I live, but occasionally one of these shows up and it's a real treat.

Depressingly few birds out today, so I turned my attention to the trees and what was growing on them. Discovered a fascinating array of lichens and fungi. I believe this is a Smooth Saucer lichen (Ochrolechia laevigata), but we'll see if I get corrected or not.
My wife told me that lichens sound "every bit as interesting as moths". I won't cook her dinner tonight, the sassy wench.

A Northern checkerspot (Chlosyne palla), spotted just west of Cache Creek, BC this summer. Boy I miss the summer months! More lepidoptera, haha!
