Sitting here in a lineup on #bchwy4 for some road work.

Our 2019 Hyundai Kona Electric just passed 200,000km this week! I got a snap of the odometer at palindrome 199991 which was satisfying. But a sudden snow storm/hail storm prevented me from capturing 200k and 200002 officially, but that's ok.

I just made its *first* appointment to have its brake pads replaced. Amazing longevity on these EVs for brakes. I really should have done it about 10k ago but still.

Great car. Age is starting to catch up a bit.

It needs the EV battery coolant flushed/replaced this year, and some small stuff is wearing:

The passenger side seat heater is on the fritz, and one of the door lock mechanisms is extra loud.

But all things considered, for the amount of kilometres in the past 5 years (really more like 3 due to pandemic), and the addition of the utility trailer, it's doing great! #EV #Kona #Hyundai #Electric #carlife

Addendum: When I drove by today I noticed some rope peaking out from under the billboard. So I investigated.

Chances my sign was removed by an unhappy member of the public: +89%

.... Mad enough to physically destroy a obviously new tarp and leave behind new rope and shackles.

(time needed for me to untie: about 30sec)

Looks like they’re nearing completion on the measures to re-open #BCHwy4 to single lane traffic. This morning’s update includes this impressive picture of the two cranes holding the wire mesh that will keep rocks and other debris from falling onto the road. Obviously this is a temporary message just to allow traffic to at least move through in a controlled manner.
