If you're new to #Linux it certainly *IS* a good idea to go and try different things.
#Batocera is a *very* specific project. Without knowing your actual intended use case, my intuition is that is likely not the right fit, since you're mentioning Steam and Geforce Now.

Tanto per perdere tempo ho provato #Batocera #Linux sul mio primo pc portatile, sistema su chiavetta usb 3.0 quindi l'avvio è praticamente di pochi secondi, ma l'antenna bluetooth sarebbe da portare all'esterno del pc che dopo un metro circa il controller comincia ad avere del ritardo. Se ricordo bene, avendola aggiunta io l'antenna, il filo dovrebbe essere abbastanza lungo da poterlo portare all'esterno.

I have a mini-PC that my workplace isn't using so I grabbed it and brought it home. With this home labbing I have been getting into I thought about having a retro video game box. I have a few iMacs in my possession that I could test.
My idea was to turn them into retro gaming systems with Batocera Linux, as the iMac screen is good and they have a full size SD card slot.
Sound would definitely have to work for that application.

I’m playing #StarTrek (2013) a lot recently. It’s a fast shooter with an easy rule set and a fair difficulty level. All major shots are easy to hit
(maybe except the warp ramp) and if you miss you’ll probably bash into something else. Only downside are the interchangeable missions (Klingon Battle? Prime Directive? Just hit the flashing ramps) and the rather low Trek vibes which are kind of fine for me, cause I don’t care so much for Kelvin Trek anyway. -

As a weekend project, I'm going to install a fourth Linux distro on my desktop PC to get some gaming going! Batocera is a Linux distro that supports over 220 gaming platforms and consoles, including MS-DOS, PS1-PS4, and various controllers directly.
I've built a couple of custom handheld consoles for retro gaming using RetroArch and EmulationStation, and we have an arcade machine with a JAMMA circuit board at the office, but I haven't tried Batocera before. Let the games begin!

The graphics requirements for Kazeta are bit heavier that I thought at first:

So not able to run on cheaply available mini PCs or Intel NUCs, as they don't have enough graphics "oomf" and can't easily have a graphics card added.
Batocera Linux is probably a better fit for older hardware with just Intel or AMD graphics are that included with the CPU.

Created a Batocera 42 stick this morning, while ripping DVDs, just to try it out.
RGSX is a brilliant addition and a helpful French enthusiast ( The MiniCake TV) has created a BIOS library that it will download and auto-install to make sure all your saved images work. 👍

@roygreenhilt I started my #virtualpinball directly on #batocera and I can't judge it on Win.
I love how many things already work out of the box, but if you start hitting walls it's hard to find help because almost all docs and discussions are Win only. Luckily the folks on Discord are a great help :-)

I think I got the 2014 Mac Mini set up close to how I intended. The main purpose was to make it a retro gaming emulator.
I have #Retrodeck installed, games loaded and ready to go.
I tried #Batocera and #Lakka prior to installing #Debian, but oh my the fan just ran at full blast with those OS. With Debian it runs cooler and the fan barely makes a peep. -
