So, I made up a bottle of this stuff and used citrus oils I had on hand (grapefruit, lemon, orange and lime), and added a few drops of glycerine [suggested by the author]. And it works!!! I would experiment to see how many pumps of spray are needed to be effective [at least four], but if you have a bathroom that doesn't have a fan or window, this is the way to go to eliminate bathroom odors at their source without chemicals! The author writes, "Personally, I plan to experiment further by adding vegetable glycerine or Dr. Bronners Castile Soap to see if the water and oils will mix even better — and create an even stronger 'oil barrier' in the toilet bowl than the rubbing alcohol alone does," and I found glycerine does that very effectively!

Sandalwood + Lemon + Lavender
Eucalyptus + Peppermint + Lavender
Peppermint + Lemon
Bergamot + Lemongrass + Grapefruit

How To Make Your Own Poo Pourri Recipe

1. Find a clean 2 oz (or 4 oz) spray bottle.
2. Combine 10 (or 20) drops of Essential Oils and 1 (or 2) tablespoons of Rubbing Alcohol in a small spray bottle first. [I add a few drops of glycerin as well, which helps the spray adhere]
3. Shake to mix thoroughly.
4. Next, add water to the spray bottle, enough to almost reach the rim.
5. Shake extremely well — until you’re confident that all of the different liquids are dispersed evenly throughout."

Spray four times into the toilet bowl before you go!
