I've tried. batcat as a replacement for cat. It just doesn't work. cat $foo > $bar -- I need to remember to disable colors. I filed a bugreport at Debian for it, because it should detect this (via some shape way or form) and it currently doesn't. It keeps breaking my usage for cat. Perhaps I should alias it to less. But batcat != cat replacement.

The shed-dwelling stray has been dubbed "Batcat" for obvious reasons.
I have offered it water and food. It has offered me remarkably convincing stuffed cat impressions. (Like a Weeping Angel, it only moves when you're not looking.)

I've been a fan of bat (the cat alternative) for some time now - but using it just bit me in the ass while running some scripts.
Specifically if you have a tool that expects standard cat formatting for stdin, but you're using bat via aliases, it will cause that tool to act wacky (or just fail).

The Dataspace Protocol will be used to enable data exchange between multiple #LinkAhead instances.

Trying out bat (the cat(1) alternative) for the first time, and … I dunno, the flushing behavior seems bonkers.
I assume it's because stdout and stderr end up in separate places, and maybe cat isn't innocent here either, but having the output split _inside_ of an escape code (note the "31m") looks like there's something really wrong.
("bar" does not exist; that's on purpose to produce an error message.)
