Looking for people (preferably #hexagenarians like me) interested (also practically) in #PhysicalCulture, #Bartitsu, historical #calisthenics, and other ways to befriend the #andropause.

I started general exercises, soon advancing to wooden #barbel / #staff and then to #IronWand, #Cane and #stick #fencing.

Skill & experience sharing, discussions, perhaps some group practice (online or offline). Anybody out there?

So, #bartitsu (or #Sherlock's #baritsu) worked at the time in part because it trained people to use the stuff they carried every day for self-defense. I think to make it applicable to the modern world, the modern #edc needs to be considered

In the following centuries we have a bunchload of treatises: #saber and #smallsword from the napoleonic era, #staff and pole weapon systems from the late middle ages, #rapier from the Iberian and Italian, #boxing and #bartitsu from the late victorian Britain... take your pick.
