Exoplanet news gets me through the dark times, and I'm still chuffed at how busy Barnard's Star is, and it's not implausible for a probe from here to go there some day, and gasp, maybe even people?

Turns out that on many of my Halloween #comet pictures another celestial celebrity was included: Barnard's Star, at 6.0 light years the fourth-closest star to our Sun (after the three of Alpha Centauri), a Red Dwarf shining at a V magnitude of 9.5 mag. See https://astronomynow.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/Barnard-s_Star_magnitude-11_detailed_finder_chart.pdf for a finder chart but beware: #BarnardsStar is moving 10 arc seconds per year in the sky plane which is the highest stellar #ProperMotion known.

"Wolf 359, Bar-nards Star, ..."
Loved this track when I was young, the thrill I got to hear the names of Astronomical bodies woven into a little song, coming off the back of playing A LOT of Frontier Elite II which used many nearby stars as locations.
That's when my love of drifting through star maps began.The thrill of having these somewhat fictional locations fleshed out by Discovery, that is the magic that draws some of us out into Space.

Max Wolf (of Wolf 359 fame) and E.E. Barnard (of Barnard's Star fame) were "lifelong correspondents, competitors, collaborators and friends. Wolf wrote a long obituary for Barnard upon his death in 1923."
