One of the local sheriff’s deputies met Anton at the end of his walk today and generously offered to drive him back to town for the night, saving us the trip.

We’ll spend the night in Hugo again for the minimal services it has. Looking bleak after this for a while.

By 2:00pm today the asphalt was too hot to walk barefoot so we stopped for about four hours. Back at it again now but it’ll mean walking until after dark tonight.
