  1. Shadow of the Cat (1961) is sort of a Hammer film. Stars Barbara Shelley. There's a mysterious disappearance, and a cat out for revenge. A hybrid of 1960s Hammer psychological thriller and gothic horror. Unusual and worth seeing.

  2. Terence Fisher's Dracula: Prince of Darkness was the first Hammer film I ever saw so obviously I have a definite soft spot for it.

    For a 1966 Hammer film it's surprisingly disturbing. In this movie vampirism is all about female sexuality.

    And of course, Christopher Lee as Dracula.
