@ukuku I watched two movies on my last transatlantic flight in March, mostly because it coincided with daytime in California so I was attempting to get started on readjusting to SoCal time.
I was most looking forward to the #BansheesofInisherin which had great reviews. I absolutely hated it. Horrible plot. Egregiously overacted. Great scenery.
Worst movie for me in decades. Far worse than Jar Jar Binks! 😂
It has a Rotten Tomatoes score of 96% from critics, 75% from audiences. 🤷♂️

Totally get it, Simon.
... Or if it's old stuff from E. Europe, from when they were Stalinist regimes which, obviously, that's fucked as well.
I wonder just who is getting all the money from how popular #VoixBulgare are nowadays. From #BansheesOfInisherin to #Avatar, #BMTH, they're getting played and sampled more than ever:

And, of course, the influence on #Akira :

Watched Banshees of Inisherin today. Great story with a lot of twists; stellar performance; beautiful Ireland landscape. Recommend

Upon reflection, I have come to the conclusion that 2022 was a great year for movies. Read why here: https://thepostcredits.substack.com/p/2022-was-a-good-year-for-movies

Just watched THE BANSHEES OF INISHERIN. It’s going to take me a while to process this one. I knew just enough about the story to be completely wrong about it. Colin Farrell, Brendan Gleeson, Kerry Condon and Barry Keoghan all gave phenomenal performances and the scenery was breathtaking. #Movie #BansheesOfInisherin #ArtIsLife

Just in time for St Patrick’s Day:
'Boring Colin is trying to be your friend, run away! Collect 5 fingers and get to the pub before he catches you!'

Watched The Banshees Of Inisherin. Great movie. Colin Farrell is brilliant as is Brendan Gleason but Barry Keoghan is amazing in it and just about steals it for me. All in all, it’s got some very funny moments, some heartbreaking ones and the acting all round is superb. #BansheesOfInisherin

There goes any semblance of productivity this afternoon.

Seem to have come down with a touch of the lurgy and spent the afternoon watching, the quite brilliant #BansheesOfInisherin. So it feels apt that today's #DailyPhoto should be an old one from a visit to #InisMor, looking up to the amazing #Prehistoric #HillFort of #DúnAonghasa (#DunAengus)

So, my Academy Award predictions were off but “Banshees of Inisherin” is worth a look, creative story and filmed on the rugged Aran Islands, West of Galway….beautiful to behold. “All Quiet on the Western Front” is war at its worst but antiwar at its best…amazing cinematography! #BansheesofInisherin #AllQuiteontheWesternFront #AranIslands

I watched #bansheesofinisherin last night and chriiiiiiiiiiiiist that is a sad fucking movie. It's excellent but jesus. And "sad" is the right word. It's not tragedy on the scale of a slavery or holocaust movie it's much smaller scale sadness but boy... it's fucking sad.

1. We did the big shop today so lots of nice food in the house today.
2. My last lie in of the week this morning.
3. Settling down to watch a Sunday evening film. We’re going to watch #BansheesOfInisherin as still not got round to watch it yet. -
Finally watched The Banshees of Inisherin last night. Strange but enjoyable, both sad and funny.
Inis Mór and Achill looked fantastic in it! (Pictures my own from August 2021)

The more I think about the #BansheesOfInisherin the more annoyed I get.
No Irish person would believe that a donkey could, A. Eat a human finger B. Vomit C. Die from eating darned near anything.
The human bits are terrific. The donkey bits are idiotic. -
CW: Banshees of Inisherin
Årets første tur i biografmørket!

Top Gun: Maverick was my favorite movie of the year, but The Banshees of Inisherin is the movie I can't stop thinking about. Just watched it again; a true masterpiece. Hilarious, deep, dark, and emotional. There are so many layers to this movie.

really quick sketches of Jenny the mini donkey from Banshees of Inisherin. she was so cute! If the movie wins it's oscars I will know it was because of sweet Jenny. her humans were cool too 😜 (tbh, I find it funny it's up for oscars since it's a dark comedy, with a petty tone akin to The Menu (which was also great) but I'm not complaining... I guess it's just not your usual oscar film...)

Here’s another vote for the amazing “The banshees of Inisherin” movie.
It was glorious, touching, brutal, funny and didn’t have a neat ending. The actor who played Dominic was utterly outstanding. #Banshees #BansheesOfInisherin

I watched Martin McDonagh's THE BANSHEES OF INISHERIN last night... Wow.
I've written and re-written this post a dozen times. I'll just say it's on HBO and available PPV and it's worth every second of its running time. If you've ever had and lost a friend, you'll be haunted.
-
#bansheesofinisherin reaction after the movie ended "WTF was that about, I don't get it. Stupid movie."
#bansheesofinisherin a week later "All we do is chat Paraic"
#bansheesofinisherin a month later "I wonder what happened to that friendship I had? What are they doing now? Why did they stop talking to me? WTF?"

We're jumping on the #bansheesofinisherin Oscars bandwagon to say that those of us in Ireland are already winners! As the film showed, our island is truly stunning - we all need to work to protect it.
(Did it hurt that Colin Farrell added to the natural beauty? It did not.)

#Spoilers for #BansheesOfInisherin
I really hope #BarryKeoghan wins Best Supporting #Actor #Oscar because his performance in Banshees is so damn good. It really does have everything.
-
Anyone who tells you The Banshees of Inisherin is a sweet film has not seen the film, LOLOL It is brutal, black humor, and is an allegory about the Irish Civil War. There are parallels to the political situation today too - hence the Golden Globes, my opinion.
-
Pulled up high and profoundly short by the #BansheesOfInisherin. All elements shine but a special word for @[email protected]'s score which kept my spirits afloat.

Just watched "The Banshees of Inisherin", another winner from Martin McDonagh – funny, tragic, surreal, disturbing, visually striking, and with a wonderful #score by Carter Burwell. A lot of messages to be taken from it too. I'll be thinking about this one for a while yet...
