@TheJen I remember people laughing at North Korea for their obviously oblivious, over-dramatic newscasts… the kind that only praise dear leader… and here we are, with major media outlets, all of them, complying in advance and paying for the swats to their backsides. A few more years of this and we’ll rember nothing, collectively, just the daily ‘feeds’.
That leaves society ‘rootless’ and only invested in surviving the day, not in growing the future; personally or collectively. #BannedBooks etc.

The students were blown away by #Morrison's voice, writing, story. We talked about a lot about #grief, generational #trauma, and the power of stories. And F you for trying to take them away.

The American #Library Association (ALA)'s Office for Intellectual Freedom (OIF) says "#BookBans were not sparked by concerned #parents, [or] the result of grassroots efforts. They were part of a politically driven campaign to suppress the stories of #LGBTQIA+ & Bipoc communities.”
40% of the #BannedBooks were about #gays, #minorities.

Been #reading this and it's pretty good so far! It was part of my #bannedbooks stack I believe. It's about #nativeamerican #environmentaljustice. I'm not sure how it stands as a source but it's been an interesting read.
