Yeah, my first Bangle.js app just got merged into master!
Line Dash (for Bangle.js 2) is a swipeable analog clock and stats dashboard for time, steps, distance, HR, battery, and barometric altitude. Instead of cramming everything onto one screen, it gives you individual, minimalistic analog minimalistic dashboards that are readable at a glance without visual clutter.
Working with the ecosystem was a great experience. Writing, testing, and deploying JavaScript directly to a smartwatch is surprisingly straightforward. Curious to see what the upcoming Bangle.js 3 will bring!

A couple of years ago I forgot to take off my #PineTime smart watch when bouldering. Smashed it hard against one of he holds and cracked the screen. It's still working fine, but it's a little annoying.
Figured that I'd get a new one once this one finally gives up.
Now there's a #PineTimePro in the works and as soon as that's out it's very likely I'll upgrade. Or maybe stick to the simplicity of the OG. Or go back to #BangleJS. Who knows... The new watch from #Pine64 seems interesting at least.

Recently, I decided to spend the money you donated to buy a Bangle.js ⌚️.
Since then, I’ve improved feature support in #Amazfish — it now synchronizes steps, activities, and alarms.I have to say that #BangleJS is an awesome, hackable smartwatch. It’s something I would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to write some code and learn something new.

I think the battery of my #banglejs is fucked.
From 100% down to 30 % in 1 or 2 days.
Can this be because the message icon is blinking the whole time? -

TIL the strap attachments on the #BangleJS watch are a little bit fragile... :sadturtle:
Also that a lovely person has designed a drop-in replacement shell for the watch that you can 3D print :breadthink:
Then I found an old watch strap I'd been hoarding that goes nicely with it, and now it's like I have a whole new watch - repairs are cool! :aMarxParty:
If you have a Bangle and your strap attachment thingy also broke, here's the model:

Okay, removed and re-added the device. Now it vibrates.
But the "Debug" screen in GB to test sending notifications doesn't do anything with the Bangle? -
"Find lost device" doesn't work for me. It does exactly nothing.
-
First impression of the #banglejs
Awkward to use, I'm not used to touch screen watches.
No indication of BLE pairing process on the clock, or whether it's currently advertising or not.
How do I get the Android Integration app into the watch? Only via browser? There's no other way? Why doesn't gadgetbridge itself offer an install? -
Sollte ich mir eine #banglejs holen? V1 oder v2? Gerne gebraucht.

#banglejs seems interesting. Not sure if should buy. I think @kianga and @keeya showed me theirs at #awoostria ?
I want something with one week battery life, though … -

Does anyone have any experience with Bangle.js? "Hackable Smartwatch"?
How is it, customizability-wise, and privacy-wise?

I wanted to write a follow-up on my "I hate software" post from few days ago and what prompted it, but instead of a rant about my (former) Huawei GT 2 smartwatch it'll be something about a shiny new Bangle.js 2 watch I bought.
It's a smartwatch running JavaScript. :D No, don't run away just yet, but feel free to stop reading if that scares you.
What I really like about it: it's open source, made by someone who wanted to make a smartwatch and not a company that wants to sell you crap by giving you a complementary smartwatch. It also costs under 100€. You can change every piece of software on it just like that. And no third party will decide what you may or may not install on it. Also don't need to pay for a developer account.
It's got a pretty cool collection of sensors on board. Kinda impressive that you even get a barometer, temperature and magnetometer for a compass in this thing. The battery is now 54% after five days, although I played around with it a lot. Officially it will last anywhere between four days or four weeks.
I really like that the display is a reflective color LCD which you can read perfectly in full sunlight. The harsher the sun, the better. :p I think it has something like 16 colors but some dithering makes it look like more.
All I really wanted from a watch is to get notifications of some few things I define, step and distance walked counter, a few infos about the current weather, a timer because I use that a lot and it even tells the time.
It works with an open source app called Gadgetbridge on Android (via F-Droid) and none of my collected data is sent to any "cloud" to "improve our services and offerings".
Pretty happy with this thing and also really happy to support small projects like this instead of giving money to companies that only steal more of your data and then sell it.
Apparently you can also get OpenStreetMap onto it, but I haven't tried that one yet.
I got mine from BerryBase in Germany.

My cunning #BangleJS plan is turning out to be trickier than I was hoping. All I need is a button press event!

My #PineTime smart watch suddenly stopped working last year (not expensive, but not high quality either). Now I can't decide between buying
1️⃣ an open-source #BangleJS that has more features, supports apps and is easily programmable, but also costs much more and could turn out to be low-quality too,
2️⃣ a high-quality #AndroidWear watch that has all features imaginable but isn't supported by #MicroG. Flashing #AsteroidOS could break some functionality & the “ease-of-use”.
What should I buy?

Getting errors trying to include an image using the #BangleJS layout library. I'm sure I've had problems before trying to figure out the right boxes to check in the image converter but I foolishly didn't make notes!

#banglejs #garmin #fitbit #smartklokke #smartklokke #smartwatch

Anyone got a #BangleJS ?
Thinking about my next watch and wanting something I can tinker with, and this one seems kinda fun
-
Now i'm tempted to port r2doom to my #banglejs smartwatch..

Owners of the #BangleJS with many apps installed will be happy to learn that tag launcher can greatly help you to organize apps.
https://banglejs.com/apps/?q=taglauncher
Launcher that puts all applications into submenus based on their tag. With many applications installed, this results for me in a faster application selection than the linear access of the default launcher.

Über #Gadgetbridge bin ich auf die #Banglejs und #PineTime gestoßen. Jemand erfahrung damit? Was ist besser?

Bought myself a programmable smartwatch (https://banglejs.com/) hoping to get my brain working with some simple coding. Sadly still too ambitious for #LongCovid but at least on visiting my student son he has something to play with while I nap on his bed! (I got some tweaks to Smartwatch Apps out of it too. A win-win) #BangleJS
