  6. If you’re near the #seattle #BallardLocks, Heron Habitat Helpers is hosting their free annual Great Blue Heron Chick Birthday Party on Sunday, June 14th from 11 AM to 2 PM.

It’s always a fun event and a great chance to see Seattle’s largest Great Blue Heron colony with 63 active nests — most with at least two chicks. And even if birds aren’t your thing, the Locks are just a fantastic place to spend a currently forecasted beautiful weekend afternoon. See you there!

  19. We made a road trip to Ballard today. We parked at Golden Gardens and walked to the Locks. A NOAA ship was coming in through the large lock. I chatted with the crew and found out that they had just come in from Hawaii. The ship, Oscar Elton Sette, I found out is based in Honolulu. The crew told me that it will be drydocked in Lake Union. #PNW #NOAA #BallardLocks #Ballard #ship #Seattle #photography
