  1. Do you have an example of stealth solar?

I've been thinking a lot about 'stealth solar' where people attach #solarpanels to places in a subtle way to capture the sun's energy. It might be stealth as there are strict rules or just want to keep it low key. #balconysolar is sort of stealth gone mainstream.

With cheaper MPPT devices you can now accept slightly poorer efficiency due to placement and with microinverters don't need to make long strings. I particularly think that there is no point having a solar panel in storage, best get it out there and generating even if it's in a temporary place!

So I thought I'd start a small website that documents different stealth setups, so if you have cheeky solar panels and would be willing to share a little info (but not too much if it would get you in trouble) get in touch.

  3. The Editorial Board of the @washingtonpost writes about #pluginpv: „it’s silly to stop people from trying to pull less electricity from the grid as America’s energy needs continue to grow“

In the US, #BalconySolar is a state by state matter. And it's prohibited in too many states, to the cost of those who pay utility bills and the #profit of #utilities (IOUs)

I've written to my state legislators - have you?

  5. In and of itself these bills are a good thing, but it seems bad that that we're essentially letting landlords off the hook and expecting tenants to make this investment in solar power. It should be treated like other appliances, such as ovens and refrigerators, that we expect landlords to provide. Furthermore, it's not apparent that this legislation forces landlords (or HOAs for that matter) to allow for these systems to be installed.

  6. For Brits we have prepared some information on #pluginsolar in Englisch balkon.solar/forUK and recorded a video explaining the topic, safety, why there is no such thing as a suicide cord & who benefits from #balconysolar!

  8. New England moving toward legalizing plug-in/balcony solar

All 6 states- even New Hampshire- have legislation in process. Maine's could be signed into law next week.

Electricity is expensive in New England by US standards and prices are rising, like everywhere (thanks, 🍊)

    Momentum is building on this!

  10. Balcony solar bills being considered in 27 states and DC, too. Both red and blue states.

Virginia legislation has been passed and is expected to become law; UT already allows balcony solar.

Lots of people are using plug-in solar anyway, before their state officially permits it.

Cost of units expected to fall as more states allow them.

  11. #usa just found out #balconysolar is a thing, after #Germany installed 1 million #balcony #solar systems but is limited to 2x panels each 500W (800W) max #USA does not need to place a limit on that and could allow 2000W if #smart but #smart is a rare comodity these days #energy #electricity
