#BaitAndSwitch privacy seems suss AF and wowsah, that won't be a "W" for anyone.

THe new 'red scare' seems to be privacy and security and these national platforms look pretty insistent on complicating mistakes of the past rather than merely repeating them.

If I'm reading the tech news correctly this morning, the slop machine vendors have all pulled the classical bait-and-switch tactic of the drug dealer: the first one's free.

It pains me, a little, to see so many people/small businesses/not for profit enterprises etc being burned now having gone "all in" on those products.

Publicly funded bodies such as universities are going to get whacked hard, too, even if they do exert control on that side of IT.

Oh well.
