  1. If #Trump was held to the same standard as other pols, he would have been skidded off the national discourse decades ago.

"Without the massive# propaganda support system he benefits from—and the gravitational pull it exerts on mainstream #news outlets—Trump, who has never enjoyed majority support in this country, probably could not long politically survive.

Harris’s confrontation with #Baier illustrates the point."

..."Control of the interview changed abruptly when #Harris called out #Trump for referring to the “enemy within” and talking about using the #American military against those he considers enemies. #Baier used that opportunity to show a clip of Trump saying he wasn’t threatening anyone, but the clip was edited to remove his threats against “sick,” “evil,” “dangerous”...

  3. The mainstream media has claimed for months that Kamala Harris refuses to do tough interviews.

That’s a talking point that hopefully will be put to rest now, after she sat down for a half-hour interview with #Bret #Baier
where the Fox News host tried desperately (and failed) to create a bad news cycle for Harris.

As you’d expect from Fox, the interview was openly, rabidly partisan.

Baier repeatedly interrupted Harris, and even at one point cut away to play her a literal Trump ad for Fox viewers.

  4. #Trump has refused to participate in another debate with #Harris — even on #FoxNews, whose attempt to host a prime-time meeting of the candidates later this month was quickly rejected by Trump’s campaign.

For now, #Baier’s grilling on Wednesday evening may have to stand in.

  5. Any high-stakes interview is a high-wire act, & #Baier later acknowledged that he had been frustrated before the encounter had even begun. He said the taping had been scheduled to start at 5 p.m., less than an hour before his newscast, & described what he called last-minute shifts by the #Harris campaign.

  6. Still, in his eagerness to prevent a filibuster, Baier’s follow-up questions sometimes resembled rebuttals. Afterward, on a political roundtable w/Fox commentators, #Baier sounded a touch defensive. “I tried to redirect numerous times without interrupting too much, but at some point, you kind of have to redirect to get back in the game,” he said.

  7. “May I please finish responding?” #Harris asked at one point. “I’m in the middle of responding to the point you’re making, and I’d like to finish.”

A veteran interviewer, and the face of #FoxNews’s relatively nonpartisan 6 p.m. newscast, #Baier was eager to shake Harris off her usual talking points, including playing a Trump campaign ad & asking her to respond.

  8. #Baier’s aggressive demeanor was consistent w/the kind of *tough* coverage of #Harris that blankets #FoxNews’s daily programming. Lots of viewers were surely eager to hear how she would respond when confronted head-on.

Frequently, however, Baier did not give viewers that chance. Instead, looking frustrated, he cut off several of Harris’s answers after a few seconds. His first interruption came within the first half-minute of their exchange.

  9. I saw #Harris's interview on #Fox with #Baier:

In my opinion it was a nice interview
Baier as a Fox interviewer obviously asked questions in a way to try to 'embarrass' Harris
    But...
if you want to be objective
the interview was a real success for Harris
and if you look very carefully
    there is a moment
(when Harris underlines how dangerous #Trump is for America) in which Baier is unable to avoid, even if almost imperceptibly, nodding his head.

  10. @realTuckFrumper #kamalaharris missed a great opportunity when #baier showed a video of #trump saying he never said he thought the military should be used against Americans. She should have said: “that’s exactly my point: he’s #delusional when denying he said what he said, and he does it in so many subjects”.

  11. @GottaLaff #kamalaharris also missed a great opportunity when #baier showed a video of #trump saying he never said he thought the military should be used against Americans. 12. #FOX News chief political anchor Bret #Baier sat down with #Ukrainian President #Zelenskyy for an interview that will air Thursday as the two-year anniversary of the war approaches.

Zelenskyy was interviewed for Baier's weeknight program "Special Report", less than a mile and a half from Russian positions, marking the first time the Ukrainian president has been interviewed at the frontlines of combat since the war began on Feb. 24, 2022.

  13. @GottaLaff Was the #Baier interview a game changer? #MAGA viewers got a little peak at the truth.
