i love that we have an emoji for 🦋. now we just need one for the #badplace:
-
took a couple of weeks… but i’ve seen my first trolls and abusive dickheads on 🦋. took me a few years to work it out at the #badplace but now i block on abuse, workout hesitation. always happy to have spirited disagreements, but life’s too short to entertain f’wits.

BURN 👏 IT 👏 TO 👏 THE 👏 GROUND 👏
> In February, X had 27 million daily active users of its mobile app in the U.S., down 18% from a year earlier. The U.S. user base has been flat or down every month since November 2022, the first full month of Musk’s owning the app, and in total it’s down 23% since then

CW: fedi meta, bad place, racism, systemic manipulation by trusted sources.
Welsh Pixie, Rage.love brigading explained:
Now, as explained in this toot: https://ubiqueros.com/notes/9jj68wrcjm
The methodology of being listed in the bad space is being on two blocklists. Therefore two trusted servers working in conjunction can guarantee a server ending up in the bad space.
Example case, tooters.org
The reason for their bad space listing is “brigading” and their addition to the list coincided with the admin standing up against the hit job on Nina (if you don’t know, it should really be everywhere by now - I’m not tagging people)
The first two servers to blocklist tooters were rage.love and .art - this was after a fabricated outrage with shoddy receipts.
Strange Object came along to block later but doesn’t list why. Following the leaders, I suppose.
Rage.love is connected to .art via a mod in both places and both mods regularly boost and fave each others angsty screeds against their victim of the day.
So, I’m short, the system can and will be easily rigged.
But again, while servers end up in the bad space due to malicious reasons, Ro is left holding the bag.
This redirection and subversion is horrendously evil and damaging to many communities on fedi - see all the drama that has resulted because of this.

Lots of hand-wringing and pearl-clutching going on about the demise of the bad place, usually with the terrible mixed metaphor of the death of the town square.
Any decent town has a whole bunch of different types of squares, serving a whole bunch of different purposes.
Some are good, some are bad; some only come alive at 1 a.m., with carousers leaving a terrible mess behind.

The #BadPlace is apparently now giving brands rounded square #ProfilePictures for, I dunno, cool points? I’m old enough to remember when everyone had those over there, then they went “nah, circles.” Here on #Mastodon meanwhile, I can choose between them with a flick of a switch in #MammothApp #Mammoth

Every time I go over to the #fowlplace (credit to @marlies for coining the term) and then come back here - I come to realization how much that platform is filled with toxicity and utter sense of doom. It can’t be healthy and sustainable to make that site - a #badplace - a primary source of information on social media platforms. #fediverse

CW: uspol corporate prosecution
@Anarkat
There would be "security", to prevent that. He has an #ankleBracelet, too.Everything about #NewYork speaks to it being a very, very, very, very, very #badPlace. There are not enough characters on any instance for the number of veries we'd ideally use.
There's a reason they set television programming in NewYork to attract victims there.
