Yes, back in the day Philips (who you likely know more now as the maker of Sonicare toothbrushes) was also a reputable jazz and classical label. Though the copyright was 1965 they put out this album in 1966. Simone switched to Philips in 1964 and was there (putting out seven LPs) until switching to RCA Victor in 1967. My copy—again via Mystery Train in Gloucester MA—is a 2016 reissue in the "Back to Black" series by Verve Music Group, pressed at Record Industry in The Netherlands. a biopic about Amy Winehouseit was sad — it’s tomatometer rating of 35% makes sense in that it is not “entertaining”,
but i must say it was really well made, and i’m glad i watched iti come from a family where there was/is a LOT of drinking
and also a number of people who were not just “heavy drinkers” but hopelessly, dysfunctionally addicted.through dumb, random luck, i did not get the “grog package” of genes, and it was genuinely sad to see this play out on screen
also, PS, the british press/ paparazzi are sociopathic parasites
