In use since 1955, these strategic bombers have trashed Iraq, iran, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia. 7½ megatons of high explosives dumped on south-east Asia. 76 B-52s remain, out of 744 built.

The problem is not that Trump now directs the B-52. The problem is that the B-52 still exists, and it's successor the #LRSB is under construction.

Nobody should have such killing power. Scrap the B-52 and LRSB!

#CENTCOM published an image of a B-52 Bomber refueling in the ongoing Operation Epstein Fury, dated to March 26.

The image was geolocated to 27.0477883, 46.9865168, northwest of Ar Rafah, east of the King Abdulaziz Royal Reserve, eastern #SaudiArabia. The aircraft is moving in a northwest direction, which indicates it's therefore returning from an attack on Iran, and heading back to base (likely in the #UK).

#SaudiArabia has consistently asserted it has not given the US permission to use its airspace to launch attacks on Iran. CENTCOM's image states otherwise.

The release of the Image is clearly a signal from US to give Iran the needed proof that KSA is actively helping US/Israel attacking Iran, not just by fuel and US airbase, but also giving them permission to use their air space to attack.

The aircraft were armed with 2,000-pound JDAM guided bombs (GBU-31), with up to 20 munitions per aircraft.

Как сообщается, в первые 100 часов операции самолеты применялись для ударов по позициям иранских баллистических ракет, а также по объектам командования и управления.

Интересно, что бомбардировщики наносили удары тактическими крылатыми ракетами AGM-158 JASSM, достаточно редко используемыми в роли вооружения для стратегических бомбардировщиков, в отличие от корректируемых или неуправляемых авиабомб, либо крылатых ракет классом выше.

Базовая версия крылатой ракеты AGM-158 JASSM имеет дальность порядка 370 км, тогда как модификация AGM-158B JASSM-ER увеличивает ее примерно до 900-1000 км, позволяя наносить удары далеко за пределами зоны действия большинства систем ПВО.

Вероятно, выбор именно этого вооружения связан и с тем, что США в последние годы резко нарастили производство JASSM и их запас.

По открытым оценкам, суммарный инвентарь ракет этого семейства уже достигает примерно 13-15 тысяч единиц, что значительно больше запасов многих других американских крылатых ракет.
