In der Zwischenzeit gab es viele andere Zellenbrände und weitere Todesfälle in deutschen Gefängnissen.
Es ist kein Zufall, dass der Name Ferhat Mayouf einen Platz im kollektiven Gedächtnis finden konnte.
Wir möchten zusammen mit dem ehemaligem Gefangen Kay Schedel und dem Anwalt Benjamin Düsberg darüber sprechen, was am 23.07.20 passiert ist, wieso Ferhat Mayouf überhaupt in die JVA kam, wie sein Tod juristisch (nicht) aufgearbeitet wurde, aber auch vor allem darüber, wie unterschiedliche Gruppen und Einzelpersonen dafür gekämpft haben, dass Ferhat Mayouf nicht in Vergessenheit gerät.

The ‘Budapest Complex’ refers to an extensive investigation against anti-fascists in connection with protests against the far-right ‘Day of Honour’ in Budapest in February 2023.
This annual event brings together neo-Nazis from all over Europe to commemorate fallen Nazi soldiers.
The case has attracted international attention because it has resulted in the criminalisation of anti-fascists across Europe, with the threat of long prison sentences.
At the heart of this is a regime in Hungary that has been undergoing an authoritarian shift for years with the help of enemy stereotypes such as ‘anti-fascism’.
The exhibition can be visited from 4 p.m.

It starts on Sunday at 12 noon with a demonstration from Alexanderplatz (World Clock) to the Foreign Office.

Summer cinema on Thursday 18.07. at 08:45 pm in front of the New Yorck - Bethanien
On the night of 18/19 July, the Rojava Revolution will celebrate its 12th birthday. A grassroots democratic process that is supported by the society of North-East Syria and has brought about many achievements over the years for a self-determined life, especially for women and young people.
We want to take the Day of Revolution as an opportunity to show the film "On the Other Side of the River" by Antonia Kilian in front of Bethanien New Yorck.
The documentary shows the rousing journey of a young woman in the self-defence units in Rojava. She wants to fight for her freedom, but is confronted with the obstacles of an old society in transition.

Summer cinema on Thursday 18.07. at 08:45 pm in front of the New Yorck - Bethanien
On the night of 18/19 July, the Rojava Revolution will celebrate its 12th birthday. A grassroots democratic process that is supported by the society of North-East Syria and has brought about many achievements over the years for a self-determined life, especially for women and young people.
We want to take the Day of Revolution as an opportunity to show the film "On the Other Side of the River" by Antonia Kilian in front of Bethanien New Yorck.
The documentary shows the rousing journey of a young woman in the self-defence units in Rojava. She wants to fight for her freedom, but is confronted with the obstacles of an old society in transition.
We look forward to seeing you there!

A knowledge of the role of Jews in the past aids understanding of these debates. Before the Second World War the majority of Jews were working class and part of a wider struggle alongside their non-Jewish comrades on the left.
The book celebrates Jewish radicalism from the Tsarist Empire to Poland and Germany, from London to New York.
The event will include talks by Janey Stone, a lifelong socialist and political activist and co-author of the book, and Rachael Shapiro, an anti-zionist Jewish socialist based in Berlin, followed by a discussion.
It will take place in English and German and books will be available for purchase.

For a few years now, the Third Way and its youth organisation, the National Revolutionary Youth (NRJ), have also been active in Berlin as a violent neo-Nazi micro-party.
Its members attack people and places that they perceive as queer, migrantised or different. Including youth centres like ours.
Following the brutal attack on young anti-fascists at Ostkreuz on 6 July, it is time to take a closer look at the strategies, structures and people of this violent neo-Nazi party and discuss what can be done to combat it.
The space is barrier-free and people will be on hand to protect the event.
Admission is free of charge.

Seit wenigen Jahren ist mit dem Dritten Weg und seiner Jugendorganisation, der Nationalrevolutionären Jugend (NRJ), eine gewalttätige Neonazi-Kleinstpartei auch in Berlin aktiv.
Seine Mitglieder greifen Personen und Orte an, die sie als queer, migrantisiert oder andersdenkend wahrnehmen. Unter anderem auch Jugendzentren wie uns.
Spätestens mit dem brutalen Übergriff auf junge Antifaschist:innen am Ostkreuz am 6. Juli wird es Zeit sich die Strategien, Strukturen und Personen dieser gewalttätigen Neonazi-Partei genauer anzusehen und darüber auszutauschen, was gegen sie unternommen werden kann.
Der Raum ist barrierearm zugänglich und es werden sich Menschen um den Schutz der Veranstaltung kümmern.
Der Eintritt ist kostenlos.
