Maja T. – Extracts from the Trial
Directed by Marta Massa, 31 min., OV with English subtitles

In the context of the so-called “Budapest Complex,” several European antifascists became the targets of state investigations.

The background lies in clashes surrounding the “Day of Honour,” a revisionist event held annually in Budapest, during which historical units such as the Waffen-SS, the Wehrmacht, and the Hungarian Arrow Cross are honoured and glorified.

At the centre of the film is the case of Maja T.: Maja is an antifascist, non-binary, and was unlawfully extradited from Germany to Hungary.

The German Federal Constitutional Court later ruled this extradition to be illegal.

After the screening, we will talk with the Italian director Marta Massa and the Hungarian journalist Benjamin Lázár Fazekas (newspaper Mercé) about the film, the trial against Maja T. and other antifascists charged in Budapest, as well as the current political situation in Hungary.

The screening in Berlin is part of a tour in different cities organised by  @dunyacollective

Im Kontext des sogenannten “Budapest-Komplexes” gerieten mehrere europäische Antifaschist*innen ins Visier staatlicher Ermittlungen.

Hintergrund sind Auseinandersetzungen am Rande des “Tags der Ehre”, einer jährlich in Budapest stattfindenden geschichtsrevisionistischen Veranstaltung.

Im Zentrum des Films steht der Fall Maja.T.: Maja ist Antifaschist*in, nicht-binär und wurde rechtswidrig von Deutschland nach Ungarn ausgeliefert.

Das Bundesverfassungsgericht erklärte diese Auslieferung später für rechtswidrig.

Im Anschluss an den Film sprechen wir mit der italienischen Regisseurin Marta Massa und dem ungarischen Journalisten Benjamin Lázár Fazekas (Zeitung Mercé) über den Film, das Verfahren gegen Maja T. und anderen angeklagten Antifaschist*innen in Budapest und die aktuelle politische Situation in Ungarn.

Since October 2023 in particular, German authorities have unwaveringly provided Israel with political, diplomatic and material support for its genocide in Gaza, accompanied by far-reaching repressive measures against the Palestine solidarity movement at home.

These include not only bans on demonstrations and police violence, but also smear campaigns, exclusion from cultural events, reprisals in the workplace and the instrumentalisation of migration and asylum law.

Taken together, these measures create a repressive framework that criminalises almost any form of effective solidarity with Palestine in Germany and restricts broader civil liberties.

The media, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and parts of the political left play an important role in maintaining this climate.

Wer mit nach Riesa fährt, besorgt sich am besten schon vorher Tickets - die sind schließlich heiß begehrt.

Six and a half years after the G20 summit in Hamburg, the public prosecutor's office still has a strong will to prosecute and wants prison sentences - for marching in a demonstration that resulted in massive police violence and numerous injuries. A demonstration march with around 200 participants had left the protest camp in Altona early in the morning. On the way to the blockade actions, the demonstration was brutally attacked and broken up by the police in Rondenbarg street without warning.

In the so-called Rondenbarg trial, the trial against six of the 85 people involved begins on 18 January 2024 in Hamburg and is scheduled to last until August. The public prosecutor's office is not accusing the defendants of committing any offences themselves, but is instead referring to "psychological aiding and abetting". Sechseinhalb Jahre nach dem G20-Gipfel in Hamburg hat die Staatsanwaltschaft immer noch einen starken Verfolgungswillen und wünscht sich Haftstrafen – für das Mitlaufen auf einer Demonstration, bei der es zu massiver Polizeigewalt und zahlreichen Verletzten kam. Ein Demonstrationszug mit etwa 200 Teilnehmer*innen hatte frühmorgens das Protestcamp in Altona verlassen. Auf dem Weg zu den Blockadeaktionen wurde die Demo in der Straße Rondenbarg von der Polizei ohne Vorwarnung brutal angegriffen und zerschlagen.

Im sogenannten Rondenbarg-Verfahren beginnt der Prozess gegen sechs von insgesamt 85 Betroffenen am 18. Januar 2024 in Hamburg und soll bis in den August andauern. Die Staatsanwaltschaft wirft den Beschuldigten keine selbst begangenen Straftaten vor, sondern verweist auf „psychische Beihilfe“. Mithilfe des Konstrukts der „gemeinschaftlichen Tat“ wird eine Verurteilung ohne konkret individuellen Strafnachweis anvisiert.

Der Januar hat schon begonnen und immer noch kein passenden Neujahrsvorsatz gefunden?

Wie wärs damit sich im neuen Jahr antifaschistisch zu organisieren?

Wir laden euch alle ganz herzlich zu unserem offenen Transpimalen- und Kennenlerntreffen am Dienstag den 9.1.’24 ab 18Uhr ins Bandito Rosso ein.

Wenn ihr erst später kommen könnt ist das auch kein Problem. Für Essen und Trinken ist selbstverständlich gesorgt und für jeden der möchte sind auch genügend neue Shirts und Aufkleber am Start.

Nachdem wir das vergangene Jahr fleissig genutzt haben um eine funktionierende Struktur aufzubauen denken wir jetzt ist der richtige Zeitpunkt unsere Gruppe für alle interessierten jungen Antifaschist:innen zu öffnen.

Podiumsveranstaltung in Berlin zum G20-#Rondenbarg-Prozess

Dieses Verfahren geht uns alle an! Am 18. Januar beginnt in Hamburg das Verfahren gegen sechs Demonstrant*innen im sogenannten Rondenbargprozess.

Es geht um die Verteidigung des Demonstrationsrechts! Warum das so ist und wie wir uns dagegen verteidigen, darum geht es in der Veranstaltung am Montag, 9. Januar, 19 Uhr in Berlin. #b0901
