  2. It’s Friday morning and I am catching up on my HIPAA governance for training.

For all you vCISO/Fractional types, there is no HIPAA requirement for annual training but there is a rule that requires training with a reasonable amount of time upon employment or change in job function or role.

A lot of people think it’s annual but that requirement is not HIPAA.

It is good practice to use the requirements above AND use a awareness program that provides annual HIPAA refresher training to catch anyone who may have had role/function changes and not provided training during the normal business operations processes for changes in personnel. This reduces the risk of missing training and allows the org to comply with governance for other privacy related activities (GDPR,CCPA/CPRA, etc…)

Remember, I am not a lawyer, this is not legal advice, governance is always something that should involve professionals that specialize in the legal requirements for your organization.

  4. Great blog post by a colleague of mine who asks why "Security through obscurity" is not dead in 2023! How many "#cybersecurity #incidents" is it going to take to finally realize that keeping your #securitycontrols a secret is a good thing? How many times does the #cybercommunity have to demonstrate that sharing of #threatintelligence, #TTPs, #IOCs, #securityconcepts, #AwarenessTraining methods, #zerodays, and everything else that goes along with having a #DefenseInDepth approach to a #HealthySecurityProgram, is ACTUALLY THE GOOD THING 🤨

    (ahem)

You want to know about the platform I architected? No problem! 👌🏻
You want to know what Threat Intelligence I gather? Check my GitHub (link on my profile 😁).
You want the keys to my kingdom? 🤣 No, but thanks for playing 👍🏻

I'm NOT saying #compromise yourself or open some dark #backdoor to your systems. Just share the knowledge of how you're protecting stuff! Everyone is more #secure for it, and the next generation will make it better.

  9. Tales from the #WhiteWhiteWest

Imagine, you address a topic of WWII by a #Museum and you don't mention #Holocaust a single time.

    What would you think?

Now, imagine, that the wine museum of #Bordeaux, goes through the history of monocultural distribution of a single plant, an obvious act of imperialism, not even indicating a single victim of the 100s of Millions murdered people in the #Colonies.

#Missionairing even sounds cute in the 7th best Museum of the world. And #Conquadestadore like a respectful profession.

What about we call the SS employees of a #ConcentrationCamp Securistas and the hunt on Jews behind the frontline we call: #AufklärungsArbeit (#AwarenessTraining, literally enlightenment work) for the ordinary people.

The wine museum of Bordeaux nicely demonstrates, that you can have a racist system without a single racist inside. For sure, the museum just tries to establish a shopping athmosphere.
