This smells like Astroturf.
There is a new, anonymous Substack blog claiming to represent a 'collective' of Avondale Estate residents who are critical of various city commission members. They promoted it with postcard's in mailboxes throughout the city.
I fully support anonymity online, even when talking about local politics, but things change when claiming to represent a group, creating a 'forum' with unknown editorial control, and putting real resources into promotion. They really should just have used the Reddit (or Lemmy) forum.

Heads up if you are shopping at YDFM: don't sleep on the "mixed ham scraps" in the cold prepared food section. I found the ugly fatty end of a proper pancetta for under $4. It's a little too fatty to snack on, but I will cook with this bad boy for weeks.

“Avondale Estates has a new neighborhood gathering spot: the Book Bird, a recently relocated and expanded independent bookstore at the Dale, pairs carefully curated shelves and gifts with a full coffee shop and a thoughtfully programmed wine bar.”
Looks cool, will have to check it out.

I'm planning a walk to Cremalosa in Avondale Estates, and wondering why there is effectively a wall separating Avondale Estates from the neighborhoods to the west, with the only entrances between College Ave and Wiltshire Dr being a cut-through in Willis Park. Frustratingly, Exeter Rd (inside) and Forrest Blvd (outside) practically touch, but have a fence (the nominally public land probably was enclosed).
This type of urban design is common around where I live, and infuriates me. For Avondale Estates, I wonder if if this design had segregationist intent. See the article below. This also get me wondering how much of our fragmented, ineffective urban landscape is due to racial segregation.
This research also got me wondering who Forrest Blvd was named after.

I biked to Avondale Ale Day and drank a couple of “fall-type beverages” for my sixth coffeeneuring outing.

“The project includes a road diet that will reduce the travel lanes from five to three between Sam’s Crossing and Ashton Place.
“It has a 10-foot path that runs along the entire stretch…and then a landscape strip that runs along the edge of the sidewalk””
I’m looking forward to this project getting done. I like a lot of what Avondale is doing with their city these days!
