An amazing art work by Kerry McKenna adorns the top of the postbox, next door to the #HengeShop in #Avebury.
The amount of detail is superb.

Finally today, I leave you with Silbury Hill. A huge ancient man made mound of earth, about 4,500 years old. #Avebury

For those of you who know #Avebury, then this mini #grove of #beech trees is almost as #sacred as the stones.
Sadly, footsteps have badly eroded the roots and soil, and emergency measures have been implemented in the form of hessian sacks filled with chalk.
Also, well meaning folk usually attach all sorts of junk to the branches, which have also caused prolific damage to the branches.
The National Trust now removes everything often.
Bring only your intensions and take only nice memories.

Some of the stones at #Avebury in Wiltshire taken a few years ago.
I much prefer this to Stonehenge, far larger, fewer visitors, and a VILLAGE in the middle of it!

Avebury may not be just a ritual site—it could represent Earth’s shape and tilt. Did ancient builders understand more about our planet than we think?
