New #review today: "Sometimes you have to give up trying to make sense of the world and just accept things as they are. For example, why is there a band called #HoneyRideMeAGoat? I don’t know why they’re called that, but I do know that they’re a really interesting band, so I suppose they need a name. The group’s origins go back to 2000, when some students at Canterbury College bonded over a shared love of Captain Beefheart, Black Sabbath, and Soft Machine." #ExposeOnline #AvantJazz #AvantRock #AvantProg http://expose.org/index.php/articles/display/honey-ride-me-a-goat-horns-hooves-2.html

New #review today: "We have previously encountered cellist #JanelLeppin as half of #JanelAndAnthony, as leader of #EnsembleVolcanicAsh, and as a member of Skullcap, but she’s got a lot more going on than just those releases. 2026 sees Cuneiform releasing a pair of albums under her name: Slowly Melting is a true solo effort, while Pluto in Aquarius is another album with Ensemble Volcanic Ash." #ExposeOnline #AvantJazz #AvantRock #ExperimentalMusic #AnthonyPirog #CuneiformRecords http://expose.org/index.php/articles/display/janel-leppin-slowly-melting-pluto-in-aquarius-2.html

New #review today: "#FabioAnile is known as a pioneer of looping and field recording experiments going back to the mid-90s, participating in the #LoopersDelight Community and other groups, and also released a couple digital albums on the Laverna label between 2011 and 2017. A collaboration with #StephanThelen appeared as a privately released CD in 2023, but Minutiae is his first ever solo release on physical medium." #ExposeOnline #AvantRock #AvantJazz http://expose.org/index.php/articles/display/fabio-anile-minutiae-3.html

New #review today: "#PoiLUeda was one of the surprise gems of 2022, presenting the unlikely fusion of ancient Japanese #SatsumaBiwa music with European #AvantRock in a startlingly successful way. I really hesitate to use the phrase “more of the same” in relation to music that is so distinctive and unlike anything I’ve ever heard, but in most substantive ways, Yoshitsune is very much a continuation of PoiL Ueda." #ExposeOnline #AvantGarde http://expose.org/index.php/articles/display/poil-ueda-yoshitsune-2.html

Here's our #review of #PoiLUeda, "It is often said that there’s nothing new under the sun. I would propose that the existence of PoiL Ueda refutes that rule. While the factors that go into this music have been around for some time — and in the case of #SatsumaBiwa, since 17th Century Japan — they have never to my knowledge been combined in anything like this way. The other side is PoiL, French masters of complex #AvantRock, with all that goes into that..." #ExposeOnline http://expose.org/index.php/articles/display/poil-ueda-poil-ueda-2.html
