  1. Highly recommended household items for my fellow #ChronicIllness baddies:

    1) A bed desk / Reading pillow / Bed Wedge (take your pick)
    2) A weighted blanket
    3) A bedside/portable basket for your essentials
    4) A 1L insulated water bottle
    5) Dimmable lights (IKEA’s system is quite affordable)
    6) Honourable mentions: fidget toys, plushies, blankets, and other cozy items.

If you’re wondering how you can help, there are a few answers to that question:

    1) Find the people in your life living with disabilities, visible and/or invisible and ask them how you can meaningfully support them. Do it if you’re able.

    2) For me, my main source of income is now my online shop at BrittBuilds3D. If you feel so inclined, supporting my shop can directly help me. brittbuilds3d.etsy.com - You can also place direct orders via DMs.

    3) Most importantly: read about us, learn about us, and keep disabled people in your life even if you don’t understand what we are going through. Please don’t fade away.

  3. That moment when you have to admit defeat and medically withdrawal from University due to the compounding effect of multiple disabilities/illnesses. 😞

    I tried, friends. :robot_heart:
For two years, I gave it my all. :blobsmilehappyeyes:

Now, I’ve got at least 3-6 months off to focus on trying to stabilize my health. I’d like to return for spring/summer, but it’ll likely be in the fall.

  13. "...if you can figure out how a rare disease mutation is working, you learn something about the normal proteins that all of us have," noted Dr Jonathan Miner, MD, PhD.

Insights into a rare disease known as SAVI have put a spotlight on a major immune trigger.

  19. 10/ So, antigen-specific autoimmunity can't happen under the prevailing Treg biology model. ❌ But then, how do antigen-specific autoimmune diseases occur? 🤔 Here’s the twist… 🔄

    #Microbiota #Autoimmunity

  20. 9/ If the lost anchor antigen is similar to the target self-antigen, Treg–IL-2+ T cell collaboration stays intact. 🔄 If they’re different, losing the anchor antigen shouldn’t affect other self-antigens. ⚖️ No disruption → No autoimmunity!

    #Tregs
    #Autoimmunity

  21. 7/ But how could we lose a self-antigen? Not realistic. And if a self-antigen is lost, how can autoimmunity occur? No antigen, no autoimmunity. 🚫

    #SelfAntigen
    #Tregs
    #Autoimmunity

  22. 5/ But what antigens do Tregs and other T cells recognize to collaborate on IL-2 supply? Is it auto-antigen? Unlikely. Why? Because for autoimmunity to happen, Tregs would need to lose their functionality. ⚠️

  23. "The diagnostic toolkits that we use today don't make much use of the immune system's internal record..." said Maxim Zaslavsky, PhD. "But our immune system is constantly surveilling our bodies with B & T cells, which act like molecular threat sensors. Combining information from the two main arms of the immune system gives us a more complete picture of the immune system's response to #disease & the pathways to #autoimmunity & #vaccine response."

  24. CW: Long Covid research news

New test aimed at identifying different types of Long Covid.

"of those tested 60% showed a poor quantity & quality of antibodies...

"... a hyper immune response to the infection for 15%... which means their bodies produced too many antibodies...

"The remaining 25% had an unclear response"

Interesting. I'd already said I thought LC was an umbrella term, & that mine was primarily immune system over-reaction.
