Autographs
In 1971, my older brother and I attempted to collect the autographs of all the world leaders. We kept a detailed record of who we wrote to, who responded, and how long it took. The project lasted for several years. Here are some of our treasures!

Rediscovered the autographs I got when I was 12 from Patrick Norton and Martin Sargent of TechTV's "The Screen Savers", circa 2002.
I got this when they came to Houston for a small convention. They hosted a fun Q&A panel.
I remember there being a lot of PCs at the convention playing (I think) Unreal Tournament 2003.

"Quilt, Tumbling Blocks with Signatures Pattern," Adeline Harris Sears, begun 1856.
Sears (1830-1931) was only 17 when she had the idea for this quilt. She mailed diamonds of white silk to every significant person she could think of or read about, requesting they be autographed and mailed back. Most people did.
Sears' family was wealthy, and it's said she got Lincoln's autograph in person, and danced with him at his inauguration.
There's writers like Hawthorne, Dickens, Emerson, Irving, Longfellow, Julia Ward Howe, Harriet Beecher Stowe, and a number of scientists, politicians (with eight Presidents!), artists, educators, Civil War heroes, and clergy. It took her 11 years to complete the quilt, which has 360 signatures in all, and a total of 1,840 patches of cloth. The quilt was written about in national magazines of the time, and is now a museum piece.
Sears did other quilts, but nothing on the same level as this, a document of its time.

Over the weekend I was at my folks in CT, cleaning out stuff, since they are moving. Found all the autograph baseballs my dad and I had collected over the years. He didn't store them very well, so I took the box of them back up here (in an old dot matrix printer box) and sorted through them and got them in cases. One of them has me stumped though (2nd picture). Any #baseball fans here in the Fediverse have an idea? It’s signed on a NL ball, so I’m assuming it’s an NL player. #mlb #autographs

I listen to music, I collect #autographs trading cards and memorabilia. I #farm full time and run an #eBay store that I stock from Storage Lockers and Estate Sales. I wrote and self-published a novelette. I wrote about #baseball for one full season.
