I've long thought of the "autism spectrum" this way - with a complex pattern of strengths and challenges. This is a fantastic tool to help people understand what your autistic child is experiencing.

A really good discussion about how to adapt SPACE (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions) when working with autistic children. No clear answers, but an important portal to understanding what is possible.

This is so sad:
"The vaccine-autism link is more than a myth—it is a wish. For some parents of autistic children, a vaccine-autism relationship is tantalizing because it nurtures the hope of recovering from autism. These parents recognize that the U.S. is not going to make space for disabled people. In their calculation, their chances of reversing vaccine injury with unsupported, experimental treatments are better than convincing policy makers to care for disabled people"

Our sensory experiences impact mood, focus, and comfort, but how do you know which sensory input is helping and which is hurting? Here's a class for ND teens to explore how daily experiences affect your sensory differences.

Protip: When you she someone's kid being carried into her kindergarten class, especially when she is not screaming or crying at the time, do mind your own business, and don't find the closest parent and ask "Is that YOUR child?" in a shocked and judgmental tone. (1/2) #autism #AutismParent

On Sunday, my son crawled into bed at 6:20. After cuddles and cartoons I took him to the nature center and lunch. He said maybe 5 words to me, which is typical. When we got home I was completely wiped - so my wife took over and I went to nap. As I lay there, he came up behind me, kissed my back and left. As I think about that, I want to take every article, film, and tv show that said autistic people don’t feel empathy, and I want to punch it in the throat. #autism #autismdad #autismparent

New instance, new #introduction - I'm a husband, data scientist, startup veteran, #autismparent, #guitarist, #drummer and serial hobbyist. These days I spend a lot of time thinking about how #data moves through organizations and centralized vs decentralized structures. I never got into the #birdsite but fell in love with the #mastodon community . So now I run my own instance at statisticallyhuman.net.

Colleague shared a well made video about #autism. Of course not quite fits to my son, but every other #autismparent will tell the same. Overall agree, hope they collect loads of money...

@sal @actuallyautistic @ashleyspencer @lkh I use the hashtags #autismparent and #autismdad not to gossip but to connect with other parents of #ASD children.

@tweak @ashleyspencer @actuallyautistic hi!
I love to hear about the #autismparent and #autismdad hashtags.
This is a new and unknown field to me and my daughter is pretty young so I will first of all read about it more than post I think. But it is nice to connect with others facing an equally situation. :)
